My guess is an R 20 .
when I got home I had a better look.. The wider fins on the cylinder indicate it is newer than a R20. The 5 digit serial number is weird. probably a R420 .. a few more pictures under the cover ( ignition system and fuel system) and a picture of the bottom of the saw will get you closer
ok i can do that.. The bottom has a Removable Square cover/plate. The Fuel setup is a removable black tank with a Tillotson carb. HS series carb. The ignition system looks to be "pointless" ill get more pics though.
Originally I had said ignition system looked to be pointless, after another look I'd like to correct myself....it has to be a points system. I can see the condenser wire running down behind the flywheel. I also took a pic of clutch if yinz wanna see that let me know. Thanks guys!! Can't wait to get my new "partner" running!!
PS: i appologize for the ignition system picture, my dang iphone posted it sideways...wtf iphone! lol

Well my best guess is a R420..
I have several partners with the small access pannel , what is that for anyway? I have never had mine off
My guess would be oil pump cover
well no need for a big bar really, but whats the max size ya figure that ole girl can pull? Just curious. I know the old saws run better than the newer ones...and by the feel of the compression on it...its gonna run like a crazed animal!! besides, everyone needs atleast one saw thats gotta giant bar on it! lol
Yes its the oil pump cover. The S series has the pump cover the p series does not, different pump locations.
well after finding a site that has parts break downs, ill agree with the R420 in comparison to the other suggestions. SO far all the parts look the same. Next ill have to get soem rebuild parts for it. (Points, Carb kit, fuel filter and new line) not to mention a bar and chain. Thanks a freaking ton guys. Once it warms up a bit, ill be back to the project partner!
I was out working on my P85 today and I was wondering, is the air filter on these saws just raw screen? Or was it a flocked screen? If it was flocked, how does one go about restoring it or a good fix for normal firewood cutting duty?
Different saws but the ideas here are great. I used the pleated auto filter material on a Stihl 041 and it works great
There was a thread on Poulan 5200 air filter fixes .... you may want to search for it. There were a couple of good suggestions.
Tim was a bit quicker on the trigger .... young whippersnapper!
Of which yours was simple and effective. I have that thread bookmarked in my favourites.

You're too kind.
I read that real fast ..... and did not picture what you wrote!
Partner bars on e-bay
Those partner labled bars on e-bay are they the real thing ? or do you think they are some cheep knock off painted up? Got an S-65 that outta have one if they are real maybe.
I've bought quite a bit of stuff from Bryce and I don't think he'd have any 're-paint' bars ...
