STHIL 012 AV high low settings

i have a sthil 012av that was not running for awile a freind got it started and now it starts but dies out. talked to the guys at do-cut they tell me i need a carb rebuild? if i turn both high and low settings in all the way how many turns out should they be? thanks for any help'''''''''''
