Okay angles are 40 on head tilt, -30 vise, -15 on the slide. Cutters seem like they have way to much hook. This is also with the stihl 7010 wheel and also 3/16 cyclone. There isn't a difference when I change wheels.

There's no 60 on my grinder? Could I be going to deep in the gullet and getting the hook from the side of the wheel. I'm going as deep into the gullet as I can without hitting the tie strap.

Some various USG info.

I have seen guys use the -30 on the vise angle, and +15 on the slide. When I tried this the cutter is profiled close to factory on the working corner side but is it a very sharp angle on the other side of the cutter and would get into the tie strap.

The way I read it on my chart that came with the grinder is -30 and -15, then +30 and +15

I tried 40 15 30 - 25 - 35 etc. The same with 40 10 30 - - - - - etc. Me and all the firewood cutters using my chain like the ones with 10 30 best

My owners manual for my truck says use 5w30. Guess what IMO it's not the best choice. ;) Use your own trail error and testings.

Yes I understand the cutter depth adjustment and that you changed your slide angle that's not what im saying. I think you mis understood me. I was saying about the + and -

I was saying in the video... If I was grinding those cutters I would have my slide on the - 15 "towards the motor" this is maybe where I'm screwing up.

[QUOTE="JeremiahJohn

If that is what your asking.

say -10 then you will be on -30. If on +10 you would be on +30[/QUOTE]

Yes that's what I'm talking about. Thank you. That's how I have been doing it. I just won't go so deep.

Remember Right cutter +
Left cutter -
Any customers and my chains that I touch up in the field with a file I set the hook at 42-43 degrees
It makes for a faster touch up

That looks pretty pokey, look at the laser mark on the side of the chain for reference ,my usg makes them like this .Round chain usg 10-9-15 126.JPG Round chain usg 10-9-15 124.JPG Round chain usg 10-9-15 123.JPG

Edit ,i think this was 40 tilt -10 on the table slide -20 on top angle

Here is a chain done with CBN wheel on a Oregon 520....this is the MOST hook you would ever want in hard wood....I don't know about the Stihl grinders, but you are grinding to deep too..
