Just for fun I wanted to make the most badass 661 that I could. I told myself I was going to keep the saw, but I’ve said that many times before. The fact is that I never keep new/nice saws. So, now that I’m finished with this one I’m going to put it up for sale and see if anyone has some cash burning a hole in their CAD pocket. Here is absolutely everything I can think of to say about it….

This saw was manufactured in March of 2014 and is serial number 178438345. It had less than one full tank of fuel through it when I swapped out the top end and muffler for a fresh MMWS top end and muffler I bought from Randy. I made a couple of test cuts with it afterwards, but that’s it. Since getting the ported top end it has less than five minutes of run time. You’ll notice it does not have the coveted MMWS sticker on it, but I do have the virgin sticker and it will be going with the saw.

I had the plastics and lower portion of the ¾ wrap handle ‘dipped’ in a carbon fiber pattern. You’ll see in the photos that there is a small imperfection in the graphics on the right/clutch side of the air filter cover.

The round model plate on the fan housing was redone with paint pens, so it looks good from a small distance, but up close you can definitely tell its hand done. If the next owner would prefer the orange & black model plate or would like to try their hand at doing a better custom job on it I will be sending a new OEM model plate with it.

It has a set of black powder-coated skeleton spikes on it from eBay. The original spikes will not be going with the saw.

Prior to the modifications it was damaged in shipping which broke the small tab off in front of the bar oil cap. The tab was glued back on and touched up with white paint. If you’re picky a little filler and re-coat of touch-up paint could hide it even better although I don’t think it looks too bad.

A few photos will follow, but there are quite a few more available on Photobucket including shots of the piston & cylinder from Randy prior to installation as well as various odds/ends/angle. This is a nearly new chainsaw in great condition, but I’ve done everything I could to highlight any known issues or imperfections.

Included (although not pictured) is the buyer's choice of either a brand new Stihl 32" ES bar and brand new Stihl RS chain in 3/8-.063 or a brand new Stihl 25" ES bar and brand new Stihl RS chain in 3/8-.050.

Price is $1,500 plus the actual cost of shipping & insurance. I don’t plan to box the saw up unless I find a buyer, so please don’t ask how much shipping will be to your location. It will ship from zip code 46112 and if you have no idea what it might cost let me know your location and I'll give it my best estimate. Payment via PayPal Friends & Family or add 3%. I’m willing to ship virtually anywhere domestically or internationally. I will ship the saw via the most economic method (USPS/FedEx/UPS) or whichever is preferred by the buyer.

Thanks for looking.

Whats up beau? That carbon fiber looks sick!

Not much Rory, how about you?

I wanted to make it look like that concept CF Stihl that's been floating around, but I bailed on doing the clutch cover. The hydrographics are very durable, but I felt like the side cover was a little too vulnerable to damage. Didn't plan to sell it after I finished, but you know me . . . I just don't keep nice saws...

I need to get you my 461 and 261 covers. I wanted to do them a while ago but just didn't. I think orange digital camo would look good.

Orange digital camo would look cool. I'm sure you've seen it, but below is an MS170 I had done for giggles. I really want to do an old 070 in a woodgrain...

You can send your stuff straight to my buddy who does this if you want; I'm happy to assist, but no real need to ship to me first. I can PM you his info.

That's just too cool. I actually like the camo theme better than the CF. What does it run price wise (ball park even) and I assume that the saw has to be pretty stripped down/dis-assembled (or does he do that and re-assemble and it's built into the price)?

Price varies depending on the number of parts, size of the parts, and complexity of the parts. I know my buddy charges $25/ea for the two plastics on an MS460, and $40 for the single piece on an MS261. I don't know what the MS661 would have cost - he did it for me in trade for some saw work I did for him.

Yes, the parts need to be stripped down for the most part. At least one exception to that is he does a lot of firearms and those he'll disassemble as (sadly) most guys don't seem to be capable of doing it themselves. He's no mechanic though and with such a huge variety of items being done he can't be expected to work on it all (chainsaws, coolers, walkers, firearms, deer/duck/turkey calls, ATV parts, automotive interior pieces, automotive engine parts, etc., etc.).

I forgot this ad was still hanging out there . . . and the saw has just been hanging out on a shelf looking cool...

I'm once again interested in selling this saw. The ad is too old for me to edit it, so the one thing I need to note that has changed is that I no longer have the 25" b&c option, so it'll come with the new 32" set.

Anyone interested?
