I used one of those trailer winches - got it from the local Ace. The vibrations destroyed the spacer after a couple slabs. Got a replacement, and that was destroyed quickly as well. There's got to be a better way, or maybe my winch was just plain junk.
In any event, no slabbing for me for a while for other reasons.

What is 'the spacer'?

For those running a winch, what ratio is about right? 1:1, 5:1?

In any event, no slabbing for me for a while for other reasons.

I dont even use the winch on mine, with the chain setup correctly, the log on a small angle, it pretty much pulls itself through on its own for the first few slabs.
