I like the bark of the CP125 better than the SP.. The Muffler(Or lack thereof) gives it a real raspy sound.. It is neat having it idle with the DSP released then when you close it it starts poping like when they start the Top Fuelers then switch them over to nitro after a few seconds...

My favorites were the older horizontal cylinder saws.

For some reason, they have a very cool, distinct sound to them. :)

I don't know if it's my favorite, but my 045 Super has a nice "lope" at idle.

The old David Bradley sounds pretty cool too. And yes, I have fixed the clutch since this video:)

The larger ones sound just like the 2 stroke motorcycles from the 1970's. PineMartin has one that had the motorcycle sound down pat, I think it was a Homelite.

And here's links to Brad's videos, since YouTube embedding doesn't work right now:

A good running 87cc McCulloch, like my 660. The thing just howls and sounds the part of a power hog..even better than the 123cc McCulloch 797. None of my Homies even compare...forget the Husky's with that tinny choked up muffler sound!

I always wonder how much power that 660 makes and at what RPM..

6 Sachs Dolmar 166's idleing side by side.

Wow, so many. I love my opened up 066, has a nice sound. The Super XL does have a very big sound for a small saw. I think that's the reason I like to run it, it sounds right.

It's the oldies that do it though. The ones that rev a bit slower but more purposeful.

Those big old saws sure did sound neat,I can till an old Mac running a mile away(especially a 10-10).I got to get a video of my Husky 359 with sound,I think it sounds very good. That saw bike that is on You-Tube with the 24 Dolmars on it sounds cool.:chainsaw:

It just came to me. The best ever has to be the Solo Twin. Sounds so much like the Yamaha Banshee sand monster I used to have.

Can't forget the Wankel rotary powered Dolmar KMS-4 either.

056M2.... no equal...

Yes, I agree, but I have not heard a giant Mac since I was a little kid
There was a really neat looking saw with a cast aluminum muffler, I am trying to remember the name...... someone posted on it last year, trying to identify it. I bet it sounded cool. The muffler looked like a gramophone horn. Straight outta an old Buck Rogers episode. I'd like to hear the roar of one of those old beasts.

I actually like my 009's popping reed valve idle, and the 028 WB I tuned up sure had a satisfying sound.

Maybe a Clinton D-35? Loud is an understatement, actually painfully so.
