I'm in need of at least a piston for my Dolmar 143, I've tried a few sources, but so far no one has even replied to me.

Anybody, Anybody!!!!

Thanks

Ohh??? I'm listening?? What kind of mods necessary?

Well, they're both 55mm. I'd have to have both pistons side by side to take some measurements to make it happen. I think the 390 piston is a little taller and would have to be turned down a bit. The 143 lower transfers would have to be dropped also since the 143 piston is a push-through design and the 390 uses partial loop quad transfers. It could easily be done but a stock replacement piston is the no-brainer way to go.

Sounds like allot of work. I'm in no rush, just trying to source the parts right now. And I gota save money for this years holidays, so if it has to wait its got to wait.

Thanks

LETS SEE PICS OF THE SAW AND PISTON....PLEASE
Every so often see the 153 piston (55MM)for sale on Eby.....not sure may fit the bill.....realize your saving for holiday.....but that $100 offer is worth talking turkey.........fix it, sell it for the holiday kitty...at least that's how i'd could justify it :) ....but
then I would not want to sell it.

haha, ya, I always buy saws with the intention of selling after fixin, then I don't want to sell after. I'll take some pics of the piston later.

I do not have the $100 one, but I know a guy who says he does...... I don't want to advertise it to the world, as I may need it for myself.

I would look at a Dolmar 343 cutoff saw, and Makita 9500 or 9501. They are all 95cc, and I believe the same piston you need. There is a guy near here with a bunch of old cutoff saws if you'd like me to look the next time I'm in.

Sure, but don't go outa your way just for me.

Thanks

How about 116si parts ? I may need some, I have asked a couple people by pm , no replies ! Just curious if anybody knows are they hard to get or not ?
Does anyone have any suggestions where to get a piston, rings, cyl, air filter
etc. I saw a golf piston and rings on ebay not sure about quality of those!

Can't help ya with any parts. But I'd consider Golf Last Resort.

That one might work, but it's a slab-sided piston and the 143 jobber has windows. It would be a lot easier than using a 390 piston though. All a person would have to do is drill some windows on either side of the wrist pin boss just under the bottom ring groove and drop the bottom of edge of the transfers a bit. I believe the crown height is the same or near to the same.

Thanks. I guess its worth a shot. How would I know how far to drop the transfers?

Here are a few pics.

There's no real magical, precision number on the lower transfers. All you're wanting to do is carry the same or near-to the same amount of flow as you'd get with the stock piston. So measure up the pistons side by side and you should be able to eyeball just fine. You'll probably need to trim the skirts a little on the 153 piston also, as I believe they're a little longer.

ARRRRGGG OK. Why can't this be easy, and just have a proper dang piston. Oh well. All fun I guess.
