Saw ID 066? 064??

[southbound]

I traded a 031 rear handle for what I was told to be a running 066...

Now before I go to the beg for manuals thread Is there a way for me to determine what I have????

I was told that he has a box of parts to go with it I just have to wait for him to dig it out..

I was also told it runs but the kill switch does not work and the trigger sticks when pulled so I have not tried..

I really like the dirt dobbers nests that keep falling out

So is there a number on this thing I can run to see what this is???

Also if the P&C are good is this worth fixing???

I'd clean the mud-dauber nests out and fix it.

So what is the difference between the 064 and 066 P&C???

064=52mm bore, 85.4cc. 066=54mm bore, 91.7cc.

Same stroke.

064 for sure....I don't know what tipped Jacob J off, but I went by the narrow recoil cover.

Narrow recoil cover, old-style muffler, early-style fuel and oil caps, early-style carb screws grommet, early-style sprocket cover, early non-clear fuel tank (without chain-throw guard), metal trademark badge on starter housing, etc.

honest to goodness i thought it had a clear tank when i looked.
it's was just the yellowing.

Not to mention the old air filter element. It is fun to see the evolution of this saw family. I have put together a bunch of frankensaws in the 064 and 066 flavor. Just a great design! My favorite is a late model 064, or an early flat top 066. No decomp, slim, light and loud. I have all run kinds of 064/066/ms660s, but those that I mentioned seemed to be the hottest runners.

According to my IPL they came in both flavors.

Definitely is an 064. I really like mine I just need to get it back together...

It's next to the muffler on the clutch side where the dawg mounts on.

Boot bad several holes...Just guess how the piston look behind the muffler...It may have run but it would not have for long...

Cylinder looks like it had been clean up and honed put back together and run for a very short time.. There is aluminum on the exhaust side only. I guess I will try the poor mans fix before I go any further....I also wont to know what he has in his box of parts....

seriously dude send it over! i have 2-064 cylinders and i dont have a bottom end for them, pm me a price or trade

Been cleaning the cylinder out this morning...I should have taken before pic's...

The aluminum was coming off nicely then I saw what appears to be a small pin hole...:censored:

Is this thing worth continuing on??? What is the worst case if it all clean up nice and I run it with a pin hole????
