Oh, you're a real joy in the shop!

I've gotten to the point of putting the bits during a tear down into segregated mini bins according to the assembly position just to limit my later confusion. Sometimes weeks go by while a saw sits in a pile, nothing worse than not remembering where that blasted screw came from..........:censored:

He has tried the same trick on me also but it don`t work very well, the photographic memory kicks in and there`s little chance of me missing anything.

To keep all fasteners in order on my teardowns, especially if they are going to be sitting for some time I take a cardboard box flap and letter on what the screws are for then punch small holes with a scribe and insert the screws in order. I have even sketched outlines of covers and placed the screws where they came from as sometimes they are of different lengths, especially Pioneer starter covers etc.

I will also put the fasteners back into the holes they came out of if possible once I have removed the component - usually doesn't inhibit clean up.

Speaking of that grup screw for the tank vent, can I use Tygon for the tube? I am also rebuilding an 028Super.

Ya know, I've used that one....but didn't think i'd be that long before reassembly.... it works well, especially when parts are supposed to go back EXACTLY as they came out (like camshaft and lifters etc)

the flat head screw looks like the one that holds the meta inner guide plate on. It usually goes somewhere between the studs and above the tensioner

Good catch, you may have a winner there.

That weird torx is probably contamination. Can't even think where something with small head like that would be used.

AH! there we are... i was wondering what that hole in the (bulkhead) was for....I did find a disintegrated tube in there....thought it may have been a 'leftover' piece from when the fuel line was replaced.

Oh, you would've known something wasn't right once you tried running it on it's side. Or limbing over your head.:censored:

Pocket parts

If I get something back together and it's working and have parts left over, I call them Pocket parts. The only place I can think to put them is in my pocket! :greenchainsaw:

It's cool that you're getting help with the fastener issue!

I am going to post a pict of a box trick I use to keep together parts of a torn down saw that will take a few days or even longer to get parts for. If the OP of this thread does not want it here I will delete it.
