It's what you do to grapes when one wants wine....

Guy you are hard to figure..............you can make some good post at times.
Or total BS like this post you just made. :yoyo:

Squish, I have never ask this myself, IMO it is the clearance between piston
at TDC and inside of top of cylinder. I think it's called Squish because the guys
will place pieces of soft solder on top of piston. Then turn engine over
by hand. piston will Squish solder between piston and cylinder. They
then measure thickness of the piece of squished solder.
Have read .020 squish is what most want.

Yes. Some guys will go down to .017 but that seems tight to me.

.020 is for pansies ;) try .015/.010 lol.

It really all depends on the saw and the saws displacement. If the squish is too tight you can run into heat issues, and obviously the piston hitting the cylinder is bad. Like TT said .020 is safe for just about any saw.

In a car motor it would be called "Quench". it's where the piston comes closest to the head (around the edges) and pushes the air fuel charge into the domed part of the combustion chamber(when your piston gets to tdc), if your squish is too big it doesn't give the right effect where it crams all the charge into the center and you have a wuss of a motor. the closer you can get without touching the piston to the squish band at high rpm the better your motor will run.

Split personality?? Nah I'm just a Re-Re. :D

And yes I dish it out. But I take it back well. :)
