Well I've been reading for weeks and still can't seem to make my mind up. I currently own a 372 that I use to make firewood. I run a 24" bar on and find myself wanting a little more power.

So here is my question. Should I buy a 390, or buy a 372 and get it ported? Any input would be appreciated!

what the hell are you cutting though? my 272XP handles a 34"bar burred in red oak

but then again all of us would like more power but then i go back to thinking this is a hole hell of alot faster then an ax...

in my opinion a 372xp paired with 24 inch bar is one best combos you can find. do you have the muffler opened up?

get your current 372 ported then it will run a 28'' full comp with authority. ask me how i know

Your 372 should have more than enough power to run a 24" bar in any wood. Do you have the saw tuned correctly? If it seems do die or bog when you are cutting you may have the Hi needle too lean. Try richening it by turning a little counterclockwise.

Well, I'm looking to add another saw to my arsenal. Just to run a two saw combo. I love my 372 but there are times when having a 28" bar would be nice. If I were to go the porting route, who would you recommend?

I would recommend Terry. Terry would recommend me. :) (Either way you will get a saw that wouldn't pull the skin off a rice-pudding)

I typically refrain from using foul language, but I have to say "Fiddlesticks". My saw was built for pulling a big bar,....not cookie cutting. Ask RiverRat2 how it runs now after 40 tanks through her.

The advertisements I have read is about $250.00
