Mall Remington GP

Sorry to jump in here.....I came across a complete Mall GP but may be locked up....what is this saw worth? collectable?..... boat anchor? he is asking $50.00

Prc?

Here is a couple of pics of the unknown Powerlite model PRC. Sorry that the tag pic is blurry, it reads Powerlite across the top, says model PRC and below that is serial number. Has anyone seen one of these and have any kind of info?

I guess this post got overlooked :msp_confused:? I'd say just about any Mall chainsaw would be worth $50.00 for the parts alone, unless the saw is a rusty & corroded mess.

I just got this 20 inch sign.:smile2:

Nice! Was that the first one that was slightly warped where the seller initially listed a ridiculous shipping charge, or the second one that the seller listed? I was surprised that they didn't bring better prices.

Someone put some work into this saw.

Thanks Chris....

The Mall/Remington GP is in good shape. The bar and chain are rusted which gives the notion it's locked up but may turn over when chain removed. I thought it was interesting that the clutch/gear cover had both Mall and Remington stamped in it. Maybe this was a transition year or something unique. Maybe I'll take a chance on it. Thanks again. Thanks,
Yes it was the first sign for $8. It had a big warp to it. Laying it flat it bowed up
about 3 inches in the center. So I wet the back of the sign with water it soaked
in real good. Then laying it flat and placed weight on it overnight while it dried out .
It is almost perfectly flat now.

Pro 88 clutch cover.

SawDust21 speculated that the clutch cover from a Bantam type would fit/function on a Pro 88.

We made a trial fit.

Snagged this picture someplace, don't remember.

Cover is very tight on the clutch drum and the top left h. corner to the fuel tank.

We have a hack saw.

Getting no love from the magneto on the GL-7. At first, after I cleaned and gapped the points, I had a weak spark. Now I set them closer to the .020" spec. and get no spark at all.

The plastic insulation on the coil is cracked all over and flaking off.

Will the coil from an SL-5 work on a Pro 88 or GL-7??? They seem to have made them longer.

Re-set the points on the GL-7 to a loose .015" and now have a weak spark again.

We will see if it has enuff to run. Have to get a kit for the Tilly on him and his brother the Pro 88.

Fuel tank contains debris from 'White Death' but don't leak.

Reed was standing open half a scouce but layed flat after a good cleaning.

Despite the problem with the coil going on/off I got the GL-7 to run and cut.

Carb. is in the ball park as the spark plug colored up nice.

Still dumping magnesium trash out of the fuel tank.

Going to redo all the wire connections and fill the cracks in the coil.

Super 75 Runs now what

Its a long story but I have a super 75 that I have spent a lot of time on and now it runs.Sounds like that should be the end hua? Well thing is I really dont have much interest in it, it is all there except for the air box cover .I think honestly the chain is about 90% the bar still says remmington on it.But she dont do much for me really, the challange was to get her to go.I rebuilt the Carter nrd repaired the recoil spring (hook end broke off) repaired a bent oilier rod made a muffler baffel.I would like to trade it for some other saw or maybe somthing interesting to some of you I am sure like this,..........
I have an sl9 that used to belong to my bil he bought it new at agway early 70's but after a lot of work I still cannot get it to run correctly. If someone can fix it i would consider giving them the super 75 as payment???
I will wait to see if there are any interested people before getting into what I have done to the sl9.It has just gotten to the point of no longer fun to work on it. Well go on give it to me.

I'd be interested in the Super 75. I have one but I haven't had a chance to look at it. PM me. I might have something to trade or cash if not too expensive.

That looks just like mine, before I took it apart. I also am missing the instruction plate, but I do have the piece that runs from the jug to the back of the handle. Yours is about 6 months older. Where did you find parts? Thinking I'll need a piston and rings.
Jim

Finally got the piston free from the jug. Scored badly and the chrome has flaked in places in the bore. any input from anyone on where to find piston and rings and who can rechrome the bore? Thanks
Jim

PS: I am in New England.
