thanks Aaron but the shaft is broke off flush. hvn't looked at itclose but it looks like the assy un screws from the handle , am i correct? looks like the muff needs help to. i'll box up the 1120 parts this week end. and randy mc needs to answer his pm so i can send the carb for that monster yellow saw.:msp_wink:

The whole button/plunger assembly unscrews from the handle. Do you have an IPL for these saws? How about 4th or 5th Ed Homelite shop manuals? Those are the two that include a section for these saws (4th only has 650, 5th has both). I can PM you the links to download the 4th and 5th Ed SM's. Will need your email address to send the IPL however. PM me your email address if you need the IPL. I can send you Randy's address if you need too.:D What saw of his is that carb for? His 790 that I have needs a carb.............preferably a Tillotson HL19 or HL103. Has a defunct shatback on it now. I'll be handing him his 790 soon. Brought it back from the dead (using one of my carbs to see if it'd run). It could use a RH start saw clutch hub with intact pawl springs (his hub has one dead spring..........and the damn things are riveted together).

will do Aaron. i have randy's addy. and the carb is for another monster saw LOL! they only wade one model and one year for that animal. just remember him looking for one and needed to know if he still was looking. what i need to do is make a list and make a south bound road trip.

and i'll see if i can round up what is needed for the 790.

Thanks Fraser! You do need to make a south bound road trip. I'm heading north to meet Randy soon too. We're gonna meet 1/2 way in the Legget area. Gonna camp overnight and swap saws, parts, and BS. How far south do you want to drive? I could go a bit farther north......

well it's 6-7hrs to randy depending whether i take the scenic route or not .where were you going to hook up?

We were looking to meet up at the Peg House in Leggett. It's roughly three hours for each of us. We did that trip a couple years ago. Camped at the state part that's right accross the highway from the Peg House. Randy's about 6-7 hours from me too. Hmmmmmmm.........

we could camp and run saws behind his white Pickett fence.:hmm3grin2orange:

you two figure out a solid time and place . it's worth the drive almost with the cost of shipping pwr heads and other heavy prts. if it works out it might be the only time this summer i get away for a day or so at a time.

Will do Fraser. I agree on the shipping costs.........................and on the get away time. I'm WAY overdue for that one. Last time I attempted that, it was my aborted 2011 PNW GTG trip (which was derailed when my diesel Ford got sick on the way). The last successful get away trip for me was my meetup with Randy in the fall of 2010......:msp_unsure:

maybe the young man will wake up from his nap and chime in.:msp_tongue:

Yep. Will be on here after he awakens.................................Backwoods in one hand, and a glass of JB Black in the other (the breakfast of champions)....:D

Fraser your PM storage is full BTW. Send you the 650/750 IPL's, but my link to the SM downloads has vanished from my PM inbox.......

You two do realize if you want to find Randy, you are in the wrong thread? :msp_tongue:

Finally had the time to play with the Super E-Z and the 360 today. Got them both cleaned up and the both run and oil.

From comments earlier, it seemed that it is thought that the intake boot should be replaced on the 360 as a preventative measure. Is that correct?

If so, it looks like you have to pretty much dismantle the saw to get to it?

Where are you located? If you're close to one of us, we can help you learn to tune it yourself. It ain't hard once you know what to listen for. See my sig line. Teach a man to fish.....:D

I live in northern Michigan. I already have a good idea on how to, but the piston and cylinder were in such good shape on this one, that I figured that I would have a pro do it. I got it tuned today though. Only cost me $4. Not bad at all. Only thing that it needs now is a new oil hose that goes to the oiler from the tank. Has a crack in it and will not oil. I appreciate your offer to help. Not very many nice folks like you guys around anymore.

It's not too hard to change the boot. Changing a 330 boot is worse. Contact Deprime and ask him to send you the links for the 4th and 5th Edition Homelite Shop Manuals. Changing the 360 boot as a preventative measure is wise. You don't want to have the saw lean out and roach the P/C because of a leaking boot.

RandyMac comes here quite often. He learned the trade running Homelites, and hasn't ever gotten them out of his system, despite his love of McCullochs. Besides, we're more likely to get away with our conversation here than in the McCulloch thread. He'll go there first...:D

Yes...yes...good...point...ask me about the 330 dreaded boot replacement from hell!!!!!
 It wasn't all that bad. Just took a lot of patience.

New find!

I just happened into a Model 17 with stuck motor. Had piston freed and compression, but no spark within 20 minutes. A little white death on the bottom of the handle, but inside of the gas tank looks clean. more to report as progress is made. If anyone is familiar with these, I'd appreciate any input. While I started cutting wood with a Homelite 330 in the early 80's as a preteen, I really don't know much about the old models.

On another topic, still looking for leads on where to find a piston and rings for my Remington 754 GI joe saw, if anyone can help.

Thanks,
Jim in the Wood.

PS: Pictures to come later on the Model 17. it's rough, but saveable. We are used to corrosion and rust in New England.

I'm here, kinda, sorta, after a fashion.
I'll be playing with Homelites tomorrow, waitin' on a visitor from OZ.

Anyone up for a trip to Mattole?

There he is. Say hello to Chris for me Randy.

Are you talking about Mattole Beach campground near Petrolia (had to do a web search)? That'd work for me. It's a bit more driving for Fraser, so I defer to him.:msp_thumbup:
