Went to school with my local Stihl dealers son, who is a salesman there now himself.. needless to say I get pretty good service whenever I am there. Definitely seems like its the person, not the company, like stated before.

:agree2: As noted, no one manufacturer can lay claim to having the most inept dealers. That's why it's good to stand by your local guy once you've found him to be a good one.

By the way, where in Ontario are you?

Best thing you can do for saws is know your service guy, I get called out to the parts counter 10-15 times a day because the parts guys cant figure 2 stroke anything out. Its very rare that I cant get the customer out the door with the right parts or something that will get him patched up until the right stuff comes in. That being said, when I have to get parts for product we dont sell, its a real PITA dealing with both of the local Stihl dealers, mostly because I have to rely on them to look up the parts, and hope they're paid up with Stihl enough to be able to order parts they dont stock.

As for the toro question, you used to be able to be set up as a service only dealer, but with toro going factory direct within the last couple of months and doing away with MTD built tractors your guess is as good as mine.

I hate dealers of anything that like to argue. I read and research alot before i buy anything so i know what im talking about. Quickest way to lose a sale is argue i think. Not saying im always right though. My biggest complaint with my dealers is price. Ive got two excellant stihl dealers and a pretty good husky dealer near me. The husky dealer caters more towards home owners, but has a ton of parts and is friendly. But all three dealrs charge msrp. And refuse to come down. Really? I know you gotta make money, but damn, with this economy at least deal a little. I like buying local, but when it comes time to get a new saw, im prolly going with a sponser here.

I rekon that little bubble butt girl at the Wendys finally left ole Tom alone long enough fer him to post.

I know nothing, it was not eye, it was the blind man, haha. Fact is that little gal left Wendy's and so did I. Now I go to this little place right near the shop. They actually wait on you. You sit and order your lunch and they bring it to ya, well not they really. They got this little raven haired gal in there, about 30 and she has the nicest little ole rump, not a bubble rump but one of those tight curvy rumps. Now personally I haven't seen this gal, I was told all this, it is me that leaves her a $5.00 tip on a $7.00 lunch everyday though,:msp_wink::msp_wink:

Nope fraid not. Husky just put out a press release the other day, they are laying off 600 employees at the end of the year, lackluster sales, cutting cost, buying cotton to pad their behinds with from that Stihl azz kicking they took again this year. Sadly Sawtroll is at the top of the list this time, his salesmenship is just no longer warranted, the brand has suffered terribly because of his constantly tooting the Husky horn,:laugh::laugh:

That sucks to here that about husqvarna. I like both brands, but hopefully the slow sales wont hurt my local dealer too much. If his sales are in the crapper he cant buy into stihl because there is already a dealer there, though they suck bad.

It won't affect your dealer at all, if he's doing well he will continue to do well. The Husky thing is corporate, not your local dealer. The only reason I brought it up was to torment my husky horn tootin buddy Sawtroll, he and me like to torment each other, its nothing to take to heart at all...

Id like to see the sales numbers between the two, but thats prolly not public info is it?

Sp if you come in with a totally moronic statement, that is totally false, you would rather your dealer to fold, and agree with something that is
totally wrong??????

I had a few "logger" kids come in a few years ago wanting a sprocket for their 028, I put one on the counter, and the experienced one
exclaimed, "No WAY!!!"

That is not what we want!!!!!!

I said well yes, this is an 028 spur sprocket...

He kept it up, yelling "NO WAY!!!"

Woa there fish. I think you missed my point. Im talking about giving out parts numbers or knowing spec from the mfg's website or things from this site. I wasnt talking about brow beating and being an arrogant sob. I know what kind of people your talking about. And im also not beligerant. Thats all. Trust me, im quick to admit when im wrong about something.

Just put your money on the counter and you can spew all kinds of misinformation about the machine you're buying. That's your business.

Welp they both put out annual reports for the entire year, usually sometime in Feb. You can read them at their websites when they publish them. I've read both many times and to be honest unless your a numbers wizard they are both hard to understand. They don't really break down the sales of product, they group alot of product in one group and turn the numbers. If your trying to find out who sells the most saws your not gonna find out by reading their annual reports.

I can tell you that Sawtroll will swear Husky sells more, thats how he is. Sadly for him though I've been put in charge of correcting him,:D:D:D:D

Couldn't you get sued for claiming to be the world's #1 selling brand of chain saws and cutoff saws if it's not true?
