I'm trying to recreate some labels for my PM805. Does anyone have a PM805 with like new labels? I really need a good picture.

Thanks.

While we're waiting for a PM800 piston to arrive, why not work on another large frame Mac, right?

Got this Super 250 running yesterday, but lacked the motivation to take/post the pix. I bought it up in WI from the son of the original owner. At the time, he said he got it running but wanted to see how well it cut. As his story went, he took it to a local OPE shop and they fixed him up with a 20" bar (large Husky mount) and chain (.050 gauge) for the bar. Didn't bother to see that the spur was .404 .... :dizzy:

I'll run this bar on it, but will also have a newer 31" bar that I'm going to outfit with skip chain.

Yes Aaron, the graphics on the bar are printed that way. :jester:

Sweet S-250 Ted. That saw'd be a hoot with that short bar and a .404-8 or 3/8-9 rim. I'm familiar with that style of Oregon bar lettering Mr WingNutski. Have had this bar for a couple years now...

A smaller version of that pic has been my avatar pic on CSCF for a while now.

Thats a saweeeet super 250 Ted, Gotta love the bar.

Thanks, Lee. I think I got that bar from a member here.

I have a .404-7 on there right now. An 8-pin will cause me to add a couple links to that chain.

I wasn't making reference to the graphics style/font as much as the fact that the graphic is upside down on the recoil side.

Another thing I wanted to mention .... Some time ago, ProMac posted how he 'primed' an HL carb while re-assembling it. I agree with him 100%, it absolutely works. I put the S250 together and it was a runner on 2nd pull. Wherever you're at Kyle, thanks!

I knew that's what you meant about the bar (the 'upside-down' thing). My Duo-Tronic is the same way. No matter how you have it mounted, the left side is 'upside-down'.

Nice looking saw Ted. Mac must have put primer under their paint. I think of all I've seen, they seem to retain their paint the best.

Here's that same 550 that was in my earlier 'truck hood' pics above. Randy has a longer bar, a yellow clutch cover, and a yellow 'shortie' AF cover swapped on to change the look a bit. Don (Sawfun9) saw that 550 sitting on the ground with the 36" bar and chain and thought it had way too much bar as the AF cover Randy swapped on is from a 200 and still has the model decal intact.:D

I got bored and put together another timberbear 610. Not quite as nice as the last one.

I also drug out a few of the yellow for a family pic.

I picked up a burnt up PM850 for cheap and will use some of it to finish up another PM850 and will use some to finish up a SP80, just trying to get a few bricks out of my way first. Just kidding, the 610 is not that bad a saw.

Oiler drilling jig

Mark, as promised below are pictures of the jig I rigged together yesterday after you put the thought in my brain. It sure beats using an elevated gasket. If I did this all the time (or had the materials on hand), I would make it out of tubing and fit it with an end that positions off the cylinder screw holes. I wish I had done this the first time as there would be no JB Weld filling my original elongated holes. You might can see in one of the pictures that I didn't get it quite square to the back but since it pivots on the OME screw it didn't really adversely affect it. Ron

Ted, even after 30 plus hours soaking in Berryman's and using an air hose, my screen was still 30% completely clogged. I raked a dental pick down the inside and was able to get it reasonably clear. Ron

Wow. I did see in another thread that Hoppe's #9 works well on carbon build-up too. Used by black powder guys for cleaning guns.

Joey check out page 38 in the Ohio GTG stickie at the top of the chainsaw forum.

If you look at that PM805 you're talking about, you'll notice a rear DSP which means its either not a PM805 or its had the cylinder replaced with the wrong one.

Either way, I'd like to email the owner and ask for a picture.

Thanks Jim, now I got to find out how to get in touch with the owner. That is a very nice label. Do you know his screen name?

I think that is Al Smith's. He's on another forum. IIRC, the cylinder is a PM850.

Is the crank exclusive to the SP 80/81, or is there compatibility among a variety of those style Macs?

I've noticed four types of cranks for the 82cc models. The first is the early sp80 crank with a different taper on the clutch side. This crank is the only one that takes the three shoe clutch.

Second is the sp80/81/850 crank with the lobe for the points ignition.

Third is the crank for the late 850/de80/800/805 with out the lobe.

The forth is the PM8200 crank which is a three piece crank.

As far I know, they are all interchangeable. Some one may correct me if I'm wrong.

A propane torch will make short work of a carboned up screen.

I'll try that. Thanks, Ron

So I did this today, but a bit different than in the past.

Had a couple of 'test' used spark screens and hit them with the torch. Got them good and bright red. I do know now that if there's no smoke, there's no carbon left to burn.

Then used a small brass bristle brush to clean off the ash, looked good.

(Here's the totally unnecessary part) I brushed on an old-school product called Brasso and worked it in well with a toothbrush. Started to return the stainless to shiny newness after about 5 minutes.

YMMV

Cheers!
