Sand cylinder to remove glaze?

Hey guys. I'm doing a basic rebuild on my little Echo CS-3000. Its getting a new piston ring, seals, gaskets, carb rebuild, and good cleaning. The cylinder is in good shape but has a fair amount of glazing on the inside. Would it be a good idea to lightly sand it to remove the glaze and create more of a "tooth" for oil to adhere to? Or is this just a waste of time? The cylinder and piston are not scored or otherwise damaged. Thanks!

If it's bare aluminum, I wouldn't sand it. Otherwise, I'd use something like 1000 grit.

Unless that saw has a bare aluminum cylinder, you would no doubt be happier with the "glaze".

On a coated cylinder "NiCi, or Chrome the super slick surface is what you want. Everything else being equal the seal will be superior with the micro finished bore.
