i got a mity-vac 8500. does vacuum and pressure. there are cheaper routes which is what i had before but if you want a do all kit it is the kit to have. most auto parts stores should have it for about $70. that's what i paid for mine CAD so you might even get it cheaper in USD. well, my wife bought it for me for christmas from Lordco autoparts :)

found a mity vac 8000 29.95 online. not as big as kit as the 8500 but will do the sam ting! thanks for the input and help all! have a great weekend.

vac testing only will find 95% of problems but will take longer to find them. pressure is the quick way to find most air leaks with the exception of crank seals.

why not crank seals? found many crank seals to be bad with a pressure test and some bubbly.

Some crank seals will hold pressure but not vacuum

Did you read that on AS? LOL just being an *******. I agree, some seals will hold pressure. More times then not turning the crank over will break that ability to hold pressure though.

Anytime I have a saw that hold pressure but not vacuum I get the 2T oil out and dribble it on the crank seal while holding vacuum. 95% off the time that's the leak. I learned that trick off of Mr Rogers neighborhood

I thought PeeWee only used that lube at the theater houses...

Seriously though, if you have proper blinding plates, and can hold pressure but fail vacuum it has to be a seal or both seals leaking.

A few suppliers on fleabay have brand new mityvac 8500's for 62-64.00

Had I not come across the power built brand on eBay for 55 I would have ponied up for the mityvac 8500.
