I have a chance to buy an 084 AV that looks pretty damn clean. What would you guys consider a good deal?

I don't need this saw by any stretch but I would consider selling my really clean 660 in exchange for this bad boy. I mainly mill with these saws so it seems dumb to have a clean 660.

Is 700 for the PHO a good deal or jut ok? Like I said its real clean. I can try and get pics on here later.

Thanks guys!

"Real clean" may not equate to a well functioning saw. I would be more concerned with the condition of the internal parts than how the case looked. At that price I would not be a buyer even with a bar unless the saw was NOS.

I will disagree a little with the Supreme Aquirer :)
An 084 needs a little scrutiny before buying but that price doesnt seem high for a decent runner let alone a nice clean example that runs well.
If it looks well taken care of it probably is. Check that it runs well with a bar and chain and oils well.
The oiler is complicated and some parts are NLA. All the parts for an 084 are a lot more than they are for the 066 and there is virtually nothing available aftermarket.
At that price point I would expect to remove the muffler (check condition, that muffler is $200.00 to replace and they rust out) and check the cylinder.
Check compression as well and go with cash in hand ready to buy if the saw meets your expectations and needs.
For a true NOS example I could see a realistic price of north of $1000.00.
Just another opinion

I sold a good runner two years ago I think it had a 30-32 in bar on it for $500 I thought I gave the guy a good deal and it sold fast,,,saws werent sell that good then,,

It's 700 for power head and 800 with a 36" bar. I already own a 36" bar so I assumed get just the power head.

I'm pretty sure he has two and they were used for a double power head chainsaw mill. He didn't seem to wanna move on the price all that much.

Here's a couple pics so you can get an idea of the condition. image.jpg image.jpg

Looks clean
I'd pull the muffler, as Dave stated that muffler goes for around 200.00. A OEM piston and cylinder will cost you 400.00 I know that for a fact.
PTO bearing OEM is 50.00.
If you need a 084 it's not a bad deal if everything checks out.

agree, that is a clean one,,,, if the PC Looks as good, it starts right up. runs well, and both of the oilers work well,,, Cool beans!!!

Don't forget the 084 is large mount a 660 bar won't fit.
It looks fantastic. If it starts well and oils, snap it up.

Sent from my iStihl.

Hell I paid 22.9/ gal for gas in the 70's.

The saw in the OP is worth every penny the owner is asking.

Yeah seems super fair to me for a 120+ cc saw. I have a buyer for my 660 already so I'm ready to move on it. Sure hope it doesn't fall through.

Do you guys think 750 is a fair price for both parties for a super clean ms660. I forget the date on it but was from right before they started with the mtronic saws.

These pics are from when I picked up the saw. I would imagined cleaned up it would look virtually the same. I sold the 28" bar on it and got a 36".

I'm selling it with a like new 36" bar and kind of crappy 24" bar. With multiple chains. It's a friend so want it to be a good deal but don't want to lose my shirt.

Thoughts?
