What do you guys do when your wife threatens to boot you out if you bring home 1 more stick of firewood ??

Well, my buddy calls me up last week & he has a large bitternut Hickory & some red elm he is taking down & says the wood is mine if I want it.

What to do, what to do..........

So, did I do the right thing ??

Hmmmm....I guess I'd just have to let her go.My wife gets upset when we don't have any firewood,so I guess I'll never really know.

Yer just showin LOVE.
Cuddle up by a nice fire tomorrow.
Bring home some flowers,
and some Kentucky fried chicken.
And say , Baby, It's gonna get HOT tonight !!:)

I have no idea what you are talking about? My wife likes to keep the house around 77 or 78 F, she is always telling me to get more firewood. The stove practically grabs the wood right out of my hands in the winter! Sounds like you need more stoves: more stoves = more saws.

I spent my evening splitting wood for my wife since Im gonna be on the road the rest of the week hanging bridge beams. My wife asks every time I go to work up wood if I think we need more. Answer is obvious.

Well, I was just kiddin about the kickin me out part. However she has expressed frustration over the amount of wood I have around here.

She sure doesn't gripe about the $14 propane bill though & the fact that its 72 in the house & about 12 outside.

I always tell her that ya gotta git while the gitin's good....

Good firewood is right up there on my list of things that ya just cant have enough of.

You must be married to mine! :monkey: She keeps it burning 24x7.. even stokes it in the middle of the night. Damn it, does she think wood grows on trees?:bang: :bang:

Yes, that's my wife all over. 24/7. I wear shorts when I'm inside, even dead of winter. On the bright side, I can cut wood whenever I want. I've managed to dovetail four wheeling and hunting into wood cutting because as long as wood cutting is involved there are never any complaints. She has even come to enjoy going with me and she helps load the truck. I can't complain, I got a good one. I can put up with a hot house if she can put up with me :D

So the wife rings me up at work and tells me she has a surprise for me when I get home. Whooo-hoo I think...:blob2:

When I get home, I look around. No, she hasn't sold the kids on eBay, nor is she waiting in the bedroom for me with 2 of her girlfriends. I go out into the garden...and down at the end is about 3 tons of Chestnut tree in huge chunks - mostly about 3 foot across. She happened to pass a tree surgeon on the way to drop the kids off at school, and it was in the back of his tipper. It is not often that I get to use the MS880 slap in the middle of London - that was an excellent weekend....

My wife says that you can never have too much firewood or ammunition.

That is what my wife says...She has to deal with my dirt bikes and chain saws, tree equipment,ect......I have to deal with her and her guns...She has a Remington 870,and a different Glock for every day of the week..(In her defense, she's not crazy, she's a sheriff's deputy and just recently got into collecting Glocks)

Take some of that hickory and barbeque her some nice pork ribs or butts with it and she will see your point of view. I love the smell of burning hickory and the wonderful flavor of pork shoulder cooked over it.

Shorts in winter, yep-way it should be IMO. Deep, soak thru to the bones kind of heat. My wife'll have a blanket on in addition at 75 deg +. But on the hunting I always take two saws and load wood around the four wheeler. Then we'll load dad's truck up-still loves to cut at 75. No sense in wasting a good opportunity to fire up a saw!

Hmm...good ideas there! Dok, you're brilliant!

Never pass on free wood especially good firewood, you can never have enough firewood.

My wife like many of yours like to have the house at 70+ degree and can never just let the coals glow there has to be flames:angry:  .

Not matter how much fire wood I cut she finds a way to burn it.

Mike, just how much do you have?

Not all that much, probably 4-5 cords neatly stacked in the yard.

She thinks its an eyesore. I think a $400 gas bill is a bigger eyesore..........

BTW, the pic is my neighbors farm right down the road. We live in a subdivision.
