I've got a good but tired 120s and a good 6000i Dolmar going to sell the 120s and buy a 5100. Anything I need to know? Buddyof mine has a 510. Used that, it was ok, but I'm sold on a little more power.

Well you will be disappointed in the fact you will have to sharpen the chain more often. Cause you will be cutting more. It will burn more gas. Cause you will be cutting more. Same with bar oil too. You will be getting tired more too. Cause you will be cutting more.
Ohh does it seem like I like mine. Yeap nice smooth little saw. Once your hooked you will not want to put it down. So, you will do all the above. For real though I have not had any issues with my new one. Opps just one. I wish I bought one sooner.
There has been a post that they are slow to drop back to idle. Its true. They have a cable throttle on them It might just be a slight drag in there that causes it. Other then that nothing else.

Hey JD I got a chance to chat with a sawyer up above Blueriver the other day. Learned some from that call. He was telling me of one of the nelsons cutting a huge oak up that way.

Uhh... they have a 79cc and a 90cc saw. Do a search (or just look) and you'll find a long line of people praising the 7900.

I reckon they make a 79 and 90cc saws. Black Walnut thats where the money is at leased theirs.

...a bit less weight also, as the 5100 has a Mag crank-case, and the 510 an Alu one....

If it cuts anything like my 7900, you're going to LOVE IT!

I think the 7900 and 5100 are "same frame" sizes. I know the 5100 won't have quite the power, but I just like the way it "runs" better than my other saws. Starts freaky easy.

I picked up my 7900 at a pawn shop and put a bar/chain and couple of vibe mounts on it. RUNS LIKE A MONKEY with his :censored: Enjoy.

PS6400,PS7300,PS7900 share same "frame" only diff is P&C
PS4600, PS5000, PS460, PS510, PS5100 share same design minor differences- Coils, Piston& Cylinders, Sprockets, Mag cases 4600,5000,5100 and Alum cases 460,510
