Yall put any anerobic sealer or any sealer on the o.d of the seal before installing
I usually add a thin layer of Dirko around the seal. Also be careful on the clutch side. You don't want to catch the inner seal on the step up on the crank. One trick is to wrap some aluminum foil around the step up and apply some grease over it. Then slowly work the seal over the foil.

I ran the
3500 it runs after freeing up piston ring and cleaning bore etc. It is in bad shape but wonder how long it will stay together.

Look at the giant hole in the top cover. Also it has LP chain on it. Is that normal?

I put the 3500 in some wood yesterday and it ran great, i will not run it to hard when i am using it due to the condition the top end is in, we shall see how long it lasts.

Just got done installing a new pto side seal in my 360, dumb question but the id is a removacle sleeve that you insert into the seal, how can it not leak, it seals to the sleeve, but the sleeve just slides onto the crank, it looks like it would leak crazy

Ok so confusion on my poulan 360, pto side seal was correct, the flywheel seal i got was way off, does someone know what the dimensions of the flywheel side seal are supposed to be. I found on thats .879 o.d. .563 i.d. and .188 wide idk if thats rite my crank is measuring like .620 that seams an awful long way for a seal to stretch.

I thought I had this down, I know I got seals before and changed A couple out in some saws. Which seal did you get ? SKF?
The SKF Pto side is right correct?

Chris just got a version of these saws so we will get to the bottom of this pretty soon.

Actually it won't if it butts up flat to the clutch. You can seal the inside to the crank with some Motoseal if you want to.

I ordered a skf 5523 but it came from a different manufacturer called sierra. The seal they sent was way to big. I called my napa they said they found a chicago rawhide number 5523 in the dimensions i posted they cant find any skf in 5523 part number.... so basically i dont know what ive got.

Ok so what i just found is a skf 5522 not a 5523 its the only thing even close in dimension to what i removed

Does anyone have a template for the dust shield that fits in between the reedvalve housing on the case and upper assembly on a 306 or 245? Have mine apart and noticed it was missing. Figure if I can get a template I can make one.

Did you ever locate an IPL for your P360?

The FW side seal SKF 5523 is correct for a P361, but I've never seen an IPL for a P360 to compare the two cranks. The 5523 is a nominal 9/16" (0.563") bore, and so is the NOS 530001986 OEM seal that I have in my hand.

If your P360 crank actually measures 0.620", or a nominal 5/8", then the SKF 5523 obviously won't work for you.

I didnt find it yet, my parts store says a 5523 doesnt exsist but they show a 5522 which is .879 o.d. .563 i.d. and .187 width. Its hard to get a good measurement but it looks to be over .600 on the crank for sure, it sucks bc i already got the old one out. I dont think theres anyway the seal i got coming is gonna work. But idk
