Grabbed this guy for $25 off of a local FB sales page...starts with ether, but won't stay running. Going to spray the carb with some cleaner and give it another go. What else should I be looking for? I'm a n00b when it comes to small engine repair.

I have one that we found in grandpas garage after it sat for nearly 25 yrs.
Clean out the fuel tank, fuel lines and carb. Clean out air filter which is inside the case on the starter side. Fun little saw.

Give the filter a good wash, idk what it looks like but the one I use soak in hot water with laundry soap after I bang them out. Make sure it doesn't have holes. Make sure the muffler is not plugged. Spark arrester can carbon up. I second cleaning the gas tank and get a filter. Carb have been stored with fuel in it that may have varnished up. You will Smell it. Could need a deep soak. May need a tuning after and/or the idle turned up.

The fuel lines probably need replacing.
Plus 1 on the lines. Just need to be done.
I sold an old poulan never been fired, my buddy filled it up and out it came. One of those I told you so moments you don't say a thing during, but just  inside:lol:.
Here's my newest similar score. Did a tree job for a guy and the next day he asked it I wanted it :).

Anyone have a good basic chainsaw troubleshooting video tutorial?
Yeah I have a redneck version
It's not really specific. works in the medical field also.
It's a lot about rationalization.

In a few days you could trouble shoot about any engine as well render first aid with confidence.
By the following week you can actually teach it with the use of linear partial information (lpi)
Just let me know

Carb kit fuel lines those duckbill valves in the tank are always missing.
Simple saw's just take you're time.
The oil and fuel tanks come out together easy take a pic of fuel and oil line routing would be the easiest.
