yes sir they are close easier to find engine parts for the 800 than the 8200 only real big difference 8200 is harder to get your hands on doesnt seem to be many of those around so snatch it up if you can

My pro 55 is a daily driver.. Always starts on 3rd pull and out cuts anything in its class..bring it home, blow it off.. It's a happy camper till next day.. BUT,, get no gas mileage at all

In my signature line I list only my runners. I do use a few of them from time to time, like the SP125C's for some big stuff, I really like the sound of the 1-85 so I use it when I get a chance as well. Most of the rest are just to fire up and listen to while I make a few cuts sometime during the year. I hope to make the 740 into a work saw as well but in all honesty, with the Stihl's and the Jonsered's running well I don't really want to use the big McCullochs all that much.
My goal is to get one of every 1 man saw from 1948 -1970 or so. At the present time I have the complete 1-40 series, with a recent e-Bay purchase I now have the complete 1-50 series, and a good start on the 1-60 series, a long way to go with the 1-70 and 1-80 series saws. Somehow I missed on a 550 this week but have another chance coming up there. I need a 250 Super to fill out the bottom end of the 3 number saw (200, 250, 300, etc.) and a lot of empty spaces from 550 on up.
As I showed in an earlier thread, I have built some additional shelves to display my saws and have at this point about 40' of empty space available at present.
If anyone out there has something they want to move along please do let me know. I might even be willing to trade one of the extra's that I have for something that will fill in a blank.

I will give my P51 and SP80 a lickin in a week or so. Interested to see how they compare. P41 vs CP70L the mac looks trim and very compact even with more cc's hiding in there. Not sure the Pioneer gives up much though as it pulls like a john deere

Question on a couple old Macs:
I have a line on a set that includes a Super Pro 81 and a "35 Flying Goose". I was mainly looking for a running 82cc saw but these came my way. The 81 is apparently low on compression and doesn't run. The 35 hasn't been started for ages and condition is unknown other than visible looks. Both are complete saws. The 81 looks pretty well kept for a saw from that long ago. The 35 has normal paint flaking but otherwise seems solid.
Does anyone have any comments on either of these? I'm already in the process of rebuilding the engine on a PM800 (if I can ever find a piston for less than $100) so rebuilding the 81 doesn't sound like fun. May just use it for parts for other 10-series saws. I've never been a big fan of the really old stuff so the 35 doesn't hold much interest. I may turn that around if someone here is interested.

Unless your 800 is an “A” cylinder, you should be able to find a piston under $100. “B”s are plentiful and “C”s are a little harder to find.
The toughest part for a SP81 is the muffler. Other parts are easy to find or can be upgraded. NOS cylinders are becoming rare as well.

Aftermarket “B” pistons are about $35. OEM range from $50 to $100 - under $100 takes patience and perseverance.

I believe my PM800 needs a 'B' piston. It is part number 92519. I only see them for $100 OEM or the Lil Red Barn one for $35. That one looks pretty 'rough' compared to an OEM. Previous discussion in this thread steered me away from it. Where are you seeing other OEMs for $50+, Ron?

Retired and messing around with old stuff...
You guys are into these 82cc saws a lot it seems. I am strictly old gear drives as in 4-30, 49, 73, 77, etc... I recently had the opportunity to get a double eagle 80 in real nice shape. Just needs a clutch cover to be compete and look nice. Has 170 psi so should be a strong runner. I'm not sure what's our there for parts on these but if anyone has a spare clutch cover to let go if I'd appreciate it much. Thanks.

Hey guys. I haven’t checked in with y’all in quite some time. Thought I would today as i was prepping a saw for some cutting soon.
For those that don’t know me, long time member and used to be very active here but I’ve drifted away after I acquired the saws and knowledge of them.
I still own only Macs and heat my home with two fireplaces. I’m in AL so I don’t need much wood but we do have some cool days.
We’ve got a ~30” white oak that is dying and it also happens to be taking up space where we will build a guest house soon. It was a double from the ground up but the 2011 tornadoes took half down. That first half that fell is now railings and other stuff in my home. Well now the trunk is rotting from half breaking away and I want to mill the other half before it rots.
Hopefully the SP81E will be up to the task. Just kidding on the hopefully part, these saws are badass and I’ve used them for a decade now with out melting or scoring a piston. Anyway, enough talking y’all want pics.
