I do, its quite impressive actually. Father in law gave it to me for fixing a couple other saws for him. Fuel tank was blue (c51 maybe). Carb rebuild as usual. It has a nova II chip in it. Runs top notch. .404 pitch chain. Stihl bar adapted. Its very powerful at 100cc. My brother in law wants it cause it outcuts his stihl saw. He doesnt understand power to kerf ratio. Lol. It does vibrate a bit but its not my only saw so i dont use it that much. Theres a video of me running it on youtube. Cutting a couple cookies. It really eats that red oak up!! Search "homelite xp1000" im wearing an orange hat and carhart jacket.

So I picked up this little PM310 over the weekend. It pulls almost 180psi. My plans for it:
  • replace crank seals
  • carb kit - maybe, but I don't think it needs one
  • new drive sprocket
  • fuel line
  • impulse line (may as well since I'm in there anyway)
  • new spark plug
It oils well. Are there any other things that I should look at and possibly rebuild? Are there any 'gotchas' that I should be aware of as I dig into it?

Anyone have good part numbers for crank seals for a 99cc Mac, specifically a 1-86.
Not having much luck with my measurements.
Thanks.

found some interesting things out about my cp125 so far....to start this may be long...so i got this saw off the bay a few weeks ago. since then i have gotten a few necessary parts to make this thing right. once i got into it though i have found a few oddities that id like verified if anyone would be so kind. the original ad said it had a sp125 fuel tank on it, which it does, fair enough. the lower av mount is not from a cp125 according to my research. it is off of a sp125 as well. the reed valve is not the one large plate, rather the twin reed set up from the sp125? the carburetor is from a cp125 though and its good. there is no tag on it to speak of. it does have the cp125 dsp valve. it is also a steel cylinder wall and thin ring piston. i have great compression and very few and light scratches on cylinder. ive got a good engine!! i did have to mess with the oiler a bit. so my questions are about the reed valves and lower av mounts, did the cp125's come with that set up ever? or are these parts just changed out at some point in this saws life?
i got it running really well, ive yet to cut with it though. it needed a new muffler base for the directional round muffler, fuel line, sawdust guard, and the fuel cap duckbill valve and capillary seal. got those parts new from b. johnson...kudos bob! incidentally i was searching youtube for videos of this model to see what to expect and ran across a video of the exact vary saw i had gotten from ebay. the previous owner tried it out and posted a video of it running and trying to make a cut. it runs poor in the video. i was excited to see it actually running though! i recognized the bent bucking spike and extra pull rope hanging out of the starter handle. pretty cool. i contacted the seller and asked the history of this saw and he told me that he got it at a yard sale. the guy he bought it from had it for 30+ years and he was going to make a go kart out of it but never did. it sat in his garage for 30 plus years! kinda neat to get a little history on it. long story here but needless to say it runs well, sounds great, i did put a nova II chip in it though to get a good and consistent spark. i had one so i put it in there to try and it ran so well i left it there. so anyway im excited about trying this saw out in a cut once i get a good clutch cover. thanks for the reply and help on that Mark H. really appreciate it! looking forward to a test.. thanks in advance for any info on that reed valve and lower av question. sorry this was long but im excited to have one of these old monsters.

From what I've heard the front AV mount on the CP's were often broken so they were swapped (with the oil tank) for the SP set up. Tanks apparently got broken (I think at the front handle mounts so they were replaced and the ID tag wasn't swapped over.
Can't comment on the reed valve set up.

Interesting reading here on the improvements made on the SP comparing them to issues on the CP

I found NOS seals on Ebay, but the price is crazy and I would prefer new anyway if someone has a good number.

Kevin. For sure the clutch side seal works. I put one in my CP125

I managed to buy a 57898 from Bob J. It's also a metric seal 17X35X7

57897 which is the outer seal which apparently protects the points from any oil seepage through the inner seal..... I was unable to find one from a seal supplier but I found this part on a power washer made by Nilfisk I think it may work. but did not pursue it.
The IPL can be accessed through the link below

Clutch side crank seal -PTO seal: 104432 or 104486. Use SKF 6640. Confirmed correct The seal is a standard 17X35X7 metric seal

FW side. F/W inner seal: 57898. Crosses to Metric seal 17X30X5

-F/W outer seal: 57897. Aftermarket? NOT SURE OF SEAL SIZE BUT NILFISK ALTO page 3, PART 3, PN 301003078 Oil seal Öldichtung 17 x 30 x3 https://www.htcab.com/sites/default/files/htc_sprangskisser/Poseidon 4.pdf

No info on the gear case seals

Thanks for the help. Found the seal numbers based on those dimensions, just not finding an online source for some reason.

As a side not, my saw only had one seal on the flywheel side and it measures 6mm thick which seems to be an available size from skf so gonna go with that if I can find it. Also, on the clutch side, the seal was installed with the garter spring facing out toward the gear case. Any input as to whether that is right or wrong?

The IPL shows the crank seal on the clutch side installed in the traditional way. I believe the FW side seals are crank seal in as normal and the second one installed backwards.

The ipl I have, I cant make out in the diagram how it was installed.

KInd of a funny story. The man I bought the 8200 from was older and they were selling the farm. Really pretty place, 150 acres of which 1/3 was mature bush. They boarded horses.

He said he was in the tree business for a long time and always used MAC's. He said he bought a Stihl once and it spent more time in the shop than with him. He said someone did him a favor and stole it.

Fossil, once that 8200 is running youll like it. Mine is like new and boy does it run well. The q port was also used on 800,s
My 800 has a q port also. Both great machines. They both have 24" bars on them. Good luck with it!
