590 is 45mm and closed port with 2 different cylinders used. Most 500 44mm open port and some 45mm open port. Just from what I saw owning many of them.
I was actually thimking about you when I was typing that. Lol.
The Poulan 525 is the best of those variants if I remember correctly.
Poulan 335/ 336, 3300 is no slouch either
325 = partner 5500
I just run the chrome bore single ring craftsmans for my small saws. Unreal open ports. I just use 16" on the small saws.
stock for stock I liked the 550 and 545 over 346.

Cmon dude wtf ... 99% of the peeps run stock saws ... only 1% are Saw aficionados and of that 1% most run woods - ported saws ... we’re here playin in our own sandbox
Wasn't the 490 hotter than the 590?
490 = partner 5000+ ?
590 = partner 500 ?
I guess you have to prove that at a GTG. Just MHO.Haha my 241c insane-0 will eat a 346xps lunch whilst giving up 8cc ...View attachment 684086
I didn’t know there were two different 590 cylinders. I have an 86 and an 87. They feel the same to me. Really good, that is.
I’ve run against one ... 346xpoe , he didn’t win !I guess you have to prove that at a GTG. Just MHO.
261cm 18” 4.0hp 569.95—-550xp 18” 3.75hp 599.95 ; Not hard to tickle 5.0hp IF u know what you are doing on the 261cm ... ps 63 chain and a 16” bar the Husky is NOT going to outcut it in any scenario unless a guy puts a lot of work $$$ into it ... 562xp over 362cm ... maybe ... 550xp over 261cm nada !
If you say so ... however I don’t agree and I call BS on that ... well ... wassamater BS ? Cat got your tongue ! LmfaorttbI'm a Stihl guy. But the above is wrong. In a straight up cutting match between a stock MS261cm v2 and a 550xp, the Husky will take it 9 out of 10 times. Better throttle response and acceleration and wider power band.
The reason I have a 261 and not a 550 is the hot start issues. Period. I start and stop a saw all day doing tree jobs and the 261 has no issues, regardless of ambient temp.
