do you prefer a saw without or with a primer bulb? I been avoiding buying saws with primer bulbs when I see an earlier version of the same saw without it.

I don't see many downsides. I do wonder why not priming the bulb takes like 10 pull to start, but without a bulb it seems to only "cost" maybe 1 extra pull.

The only true problem with primer bulbs is the snap-in Walbro ones have a tendency to break the small tabs keeping them in place and replacements are ridiculously expensive.

As an aside priming and not priming a cold MS193T seems to make zero difference. ;)

Not all that expensive really. A little more than the aftermarket ones maybe..

US prices, multiply that threefold to have the European price. I have bought a couple two weeks ago plus a batch of Walbro fuel filters so the horror is still hetched in my brain.
They are not just losing to the Chinese here: they are rolling out a nice big red carpet to them.

Hopefully you all will not import their virus as well!

How is that 350 build coming? Do you have any pics to share Bill? Thx. Tim

You want pics of my 350? Ok

I been jumping back and forth building my bar groove grinder using the 1” belt sander. A sturdy table to handle longer heavy bars. While I’m waiting for a 45 mm bigbore kit.

I also did not trust primer bulb type saws, especially if I needed to use the saw on a cold day way back in the boonies.
Could not trust the bulb
to operate without cracking, deforming, and would have to prime with a gentle touch, especially if the bulb was over 2 years old and price of some of the replacement bulbs were not reasonable.

I knuckled down and found a supply of primer bulbs at a reasonable prices on-line now days so I just replace them when one gets weak. (easier to get parts on-line now days instead of mail ordering) I live in rural area and access to parts not readily available locally.

If I did not do my own repairs I would stay away from primer bulb saws. Cannot even imagine what a saw shop would charge to replace a primer bulb and if saw needed new primer bulb it would most likely need new fuel lines also.

These are not primer bulbs.
I also have a Sthil trimer with a purge bulb, it's at least 10 years old with never any issues.
Me also. Have a 10+ year old $69 Craftsman string trimmer with a purge bulb, never replaced it or has given me problems. Now it probably will not start this spring, but will take my chances.

i watch for assorted packages of primer bulbs in the clearance racks or garage sales, there's only a few common sizes of them. I've often wondered why we never needed them for so many decades and now we do. I have one saw with a bulb the rest are just a choke and somehow manage to start, and only one fuel line to worry about!
