See how the offset is made where the washer fits in there. The one on the left is probably rubbing and making the drum spin and the one on the right has the correct clearance.

Steve has it.
The one on the left doesn't use a washer. I would buy the one on the right but not sure I wouldn't get the one on the left.
 
Getting further into the 5200. Made a spanner wrench for the clutch but neglected to make a plate for my flywheel puller so the removal of those will wait until tomorrow.
Interesting design. Will need to address one of the antivibe mounts. Thinking about making a polyurethane bushing to replace it. otherwise the tank goes to work tomorrow for cleanup.

Nice Spanner and very nice TIG welding! Now that You have the Spanner more Green saws will migrate to you I am sure. LOL

I’ll get into it further tomorrow. From what I see bushings are expensive unless there is another source or cross reference part #. Thought of just ordering some polyurethane and turning a bushing

I cant stand to listen to it myself to see what is happening or what he used. I heard folks using different AV's. IMO mute it. :dizzy:

Thanks! I’m a machinist by trade, but I can still stick some metal together when I need to lol.
I work for one of the larger fabrication shops on the west coast and have a lot of equipment and skilled people at my disposal.

Now that I have the 5200 apart and understand how the AV mounts work I’ll have to watch that video again. Sidewall gave me a link to source some new mounts.

Do you remember which direction the oiler screw is set for maximum flow on a 3400?

I saw an old thread, that you had an adjustable one a few years back. I also read through the owners & service manual for the info, but there’s no mention of it. Looking at the disassembled oil pump provides me no clues either.

I assume that unseating the screw fully CCW provides maximum flow, BUT backing out CCW hits the case hole edge after a couple of turns. I trimmed the case hole forward with a Dremel to match the angled adjustment screw head, & could now get it out w/o pulling the pump...standard pump on left.

I read that thread a few years ago when I started on mine. That's where I got the idea from when I needed to replace mine. I figured if I ever broke one which I doubt I ever will, it would be a easy to get part. Mine sits on the shelf until I decide I just want to hear it run. Haven't stuck it in any wood yet. Maybe this summer I'll try it out.

Wheelin. Seeing how you only have 1 to replace I would say bite the bullet and get a stock one to replace it. The cost isn't that much compared to the value of the saw if not modified. This from a fellow machinist .
Probably gonna need at least two. I see what you’re saying about keeping it 100% Poulan. I’ll do my best ;)
 
It is my some what less than humble opinion that it is your saw. Make it into whatever you want!! Use whatever parts you want!

I agree wholeheartedly. I always try to use oem or standard parts if possible, but if something is NLA then I don’t mind fabricating something or even improving an existing design. I don’t think I’ll be able to find oem bushings and I don’t like the metric thread idea so I am going to see what I can come up with.
