Been wanting to upgrade the spike on the 5200 since I got it, so I was playing around last night trying to get a visual using a spike I had cut for my Macs. I’ll have to make a few tweaks, then get a flat pattern drawn up for the laser then block out numbers for forming.

I think it will look proper. :)

Looks really good, like an 045/056 Stihl large size spike. Woops, I just used the ‘S’ word.

Think the 5200/5400 spike used a 90 degree bend at the top for a front mount hole, and also needed a “bump” or offset in the middle to access the chain adjuster screw head.

Yes, glad you mentioned the "bump" in the dog for access to the adj. screw. I have one 4200,5200 bucking spike without that bump. Its a real pain to adjust chain with that.

Gregg,

Yeah that’s what its’ a copy of, but I had the bolt holes re located for the early Mac short clutch covers. I’ll take this spike and the stock 5200 spike in to the guys that program the lasers and press brakes here at work and see what they can come up with.

Steve, I think it would look badass with one on the clutch cover but I don’t want to drill holes in it.

Some of the Husky saws had an outside dawg that just slipped on the bar studs outside of the cover and were held in place by the bar nuts. You could do that to keep the cover unmolested.

So is the 2700 the same bolt pattern as the 335 and is the stroke on the crank the same.
I will say yes to both without even having the 2800 here to check and sold the 2700. Everything seemed same to me.
The 32mm stroke is used on the 46cc-60cc.
But the bolt pattern is only the same with ones with that case in 46cc-54cc.

Yes, Here is an example. Back some years ago I switched a stock set on my 385xp with a larger set.

Looks like what the 385 I had too. I had full and half and small and big dawgs. Small in pic.

Man I loved that 385 saw (but a local logger liked it more).

We compared a 064 with this 385 and my 505 all in same ash one day testing. They all cut right with each other with 28" buried.

Same with a 372 I sold to same logger. Big on.

Hey fellas I’ve been bumming around the partner thread. I’ve got a poulan 3300 I’m rebuilding the carb on was wondering if anybody knew if this is a Welch plug that needs removed on a HDA Walbro. It did not come in the kit anyway but thought I’d check with you poulan guru’s first. Thanks in advance for any help.

Last summer I had some logging done. Was a couple interesting days in the woods. I was out with the guy doing the cutting most of the time. I didn't do anything, and I got tired. Only saws he will use is a Husky 395. Amazed me how someone can carry and swing one of those all day long, day after day. I like using big saws, but I can cut for a little bit, then take a break, or quit. LOL Lotta respect for what they do.
