I think Hoggwood has a 3400 adjustable oiler. I have at least one saw with the hole in the case to adjust the pump but the pump is not adjustable.

That must be a mess cleaning that out. I have been working on a 3400 a later one that has a scored piston and cylinder. Going to put a 3700 piston in it.
I just sat it tail down for a few hours in a garbage can. Most of it drained out. I was hoping the check valve was shot but it's good so the sealer may have given up between the tank and the crankcase. Hope not. It will fog some when I fire it up. If it still leaks into the crankcase I guess I'll be splitting it to reseal it.
It will be going down the road anyway. It's in very nice shape.
Where did you find a 3700 P&C?

All this talk about adjustable oiler got me looking at the saw a little closer, is this the adjustable oiler?

I haven't investigated that far yet was rushing to get the spike on and domestic chores. I think there's a flat head screw in there.
I’ve found a rod in an envelope I thought was for a 5200 but I found a part number 10671 does anyone know what saw this rod goes to?
Yep..That saw has all the signs of a very early 3400. To bad they didn't keep track by serial number and dates like cars & tractors.
Well Tim I tell ya I have bought stuff over the years and then put it away and then one day I am going through the parts looking for something and then bingo look what I have. I still NOS Poulan rings for 3700's and 4000's that I bought and a PP 395 that I have not even fixed up yet. Then when I was working part time for a shop people sometimes did not want to spend the money to fix a saw and would just leave it there for disposal. Well I would ask for the saw and I have a collection from there too that I have not yet repaired like this 3400 I am now working on. I just I finished a Husky 50 special that I had been given for free from that time when I was working part time. I have a lot of Poulans but I have a lot of other saws too.
I do have one setup with the adjustable oiler. Another spare pump with the adjustable oiler (in a bin, in a bin, in a bin...) somewhere. Pointless feature really. I did a write up with pics on it years ago here. All the screw does is thread into the inlet channel on the pump. Just a gate valve, really. You could only adjust them to deliver less oil than the non-adjustable setups.

No but I did have one with the adjustable oiler. That was years ago. I recall the adjuster didn't affect flow very much, if at all.
This is actually a started typing at lunch that was supposed to be ,mine does have 79 stamped on all the metal parts.

Can’t tell by your attached photo, lol...but that’s not a good Poulan number either.
what does the recoil look like on the green craftsman?
Cool, thanks. I have the rest of the matching plastic, but no recoil. If no one wants it, maybe I'll get it from you later. Too many irons in the fire at the moment.
I do not need recoils so do not hold off on my account.
