Then ten page debate comment was a joke. Yup! Bought is bought. Done is done, and that little loader is going to slay the woods!

Good for you KK. I see now, pre emissions good. Cab pretty dang good, foot controls, well, two out of three aint bad. You will be very happy, One more (unsolicited) piece of advice for the moment. Don't be grabbing 20' long sticks sideays in the grapple, and want to walk it through the woods to load it, keep the sticks less long, you dont need to be cantilevering alot on either side of your COG. You just got an enormous labor saver, so its will be okay to cut firewood sticks down to smaller lengths. If its going to be a saw log, drag that thing, and deal with the mud in the bark later. Seen a few too many warp the Arms and Grapple attachment ruined trying to carry too much cantilevered, and too much speed.

PS- buy, dont make, a couple of QA plates you can add on yourself, to make specific tools to connect with.

Congrats- but dont overload it, OK KK?????
Im going to have to fab a removable hitch on the skid steer for this some how. Plus I STIHL plan on using my Honda wheeler with this also fir smaller logs. This skidding arch should keep logs out of the dirt and mud a little better hopefully. Especially if I build a pup bunk fir the other end of the log fir longer turns to the landing.

So I know some of you guys are wondering what kind of skid I got. Without out getting into a ten page debate again. (Witch was actually pretty fun and entertaining considering) I'll let you know what I got. I got a very low hour pre imisions machine fir a good price considering hours and the fact pre imisions are selling at a premium right now. I got the machine I could afford and that I know I can sell here on the Island for probably more than what I paid for it if I don't like it. I got the machine that I think will suit me best as a first time starting skid steer. I got a machine I feel is much faster and more mauverable than a tractor for what I intend on doing. I got the Bob Cat S175 240 hour machine that I was looking at three days ago. Yup! I stuck to my gun decks gentleman! If it works out for me it works out. If it doesn't? I'll be the first to let you guys that disagree on my decision how I like my crow prepared. I will also say Im already talking to dealers on getting a pair of high quality rubber tracks , tire chains, and possibly even some semi pneumatic tiers. My neighbor, good friend, and retired heavy equipment operator that has lots of time in a skid. Seems to feel that it will work fine fir what I want to do, so we will see. As far as rough riding? 🤔 Well, I guess its a good thing Im not a candy a**! 😉

Its a clean tight low enough hour machine that I didn't have to wonder how well it was taken care of. Or fly down to look at it first before making a decision. Witch is a big deal for me to have to do!

cut safe, stay sharp, and be aware! 👍
Great looking machine kk. I've ran skids , tractors, dozers hoe's, excavators etc. Tho not as many hours as some. I love skids and they sure have their strong points. I hope it serves you well. If not I hope you find the perfect machine in the end. I think the strongest point on the skids is dang they are quick!
Myself if I could only have one machine, it would probably be a hydro drive tractor in the 50 hp range ( loader of course). But I do different stuff than some fellas. I'd love to have that and a skid some day. THAT would be incredible!

I actually intended on getting a tractor also one day. See here's the thing. Im not going to be trying to log an eighteen wheel log truck "OVERLOAD" 😉 a day. 5000 to 10,000 board foot a day is more like it. I mainly want the Skid for its fast loading capabilities, lifting power per hp, its tight maneuvering, and fir residential tree service work and clean up. After lots of research, advice, info, and opinions. A skid just seemed the better option. Be it track or wheel? I will never find the perfect machine. That's like trying to find the perfect rifle or the perfect boat. No such thing as either! 🤣😉

I was so many pages behind, when I went to reply to every one I had quoted, I would have added another 5 pages from quotes. Screw that lol.
Kk, congrats on your new purchase, I'm sure farmer Steve will be happy to add some water to the fuel tank for you. 😉 just kidding lol. I'm sure it will save you a ton of time and effort.

Little update in the life of Sean. Still trying to figure out what exact part of the security system if fubar on this bonneville. Wiring diagrams don't seem to include the optional security system (passkey3) that this has on it, and the one code it generates just says it's lost its state of health. So nothing to really go on, and very limited info on this particular year as it was an factory option, on a car that wasn't very popular. Kinds sad as it's in nice shape.
My FIL was over this weekend to help the wife finish drywall in my son's room. Glad that project is moving along. I passionately hate finishing drywall. It just such a fiddley, slow, tedious process. I'd rather watch concrete dry in December then mess with drywall. Fortunately, my wife is much better at it than me, and my FIL is better then her. He's coming back this weekend to help finish it and the little hall way. I have one more sheet to hang then it's move on to paint, trim and flooring. Which if anyone has shopped recently, better make sure your sitting down when the bill comes. Prices are crazy.
Weather has been decently warm, but started chilling off, (and quick too) this evening. Looks like we have some sort of weather event moving in. Wife says snow end of the week into the weekend. Kinda hoping for either 3 feet or not amounting to much of anything. I don't have a plow on any of the tractors, or the blower on the cub, or the walk behind blower out of the shed. (Which it needs the skids redone, burned through the factory ones and figured I had all summer to fix it.... yep, nope)

Ya Ya! I hope it works owt! 16743906602385305593719798306701.gif

See, classic example! That machine has almost 4000 hours on it for only a few thousand less than the all but brand new machine I picked up thats comparable in size, and is that CAT pre imisions? Dose it have high flow hydraulics? Don't get me wrong. I'm not knocking that machine at all. Im just saying that I feel I got a great deal considering. 🤷

guess the paper clutches held up... :popcorn2:
I have to throw in here that I pulled a few semi's out of the muck with a square body in lo/ lo. The torque on those 70's era with lo / lo was unreal. Didn't seem to hurt a thing and drove it many more years. Sold it at 300k and the man drove it home!

Lol that's for sure! Seems like this will be a great fit for you.

Sean, does it have the little chip in the key?

If so it’s likely a broken wire that runs the length of the ignition column. Can’t tell you how many ignition cylinders I’ve done

Google search it, very common and some nifty fixes involving resistors
Why do they put chips in keys??? I mean isn't the key pattern on the key itself and in the key way good enough?

I think you'll like it. I've got a few different friends in the tree biz, my buddy that does more of the residential side of things, swears by his skid steer. Like you said, he can get it into tight spaces, back yards, etc, it was a total game changer for him. Tractors are cool and probably the best choice for most people, but the skid steer is the best choice for him and his business.

Most of my other friends typically don't do residential work, and they like the excavators. Reason being is they use thumbs, grab the brush, and pile it. Also the terrain isn't always the most forgiving for a skid. They can throw a masticator head on it and get more places than a skid will with the masticator head. Those guys aren't necessarily "tree guys" though. I do most of my side work with them, as they typically aren't doing any falling or climbing, so I go help out when they do.
