Down here it's about $65 for permanent trailer plates. 👍

Window shopping a little:

I could really haul logs with this thing. Probably stack them 4 or 5 foot high. Downside, it would probably cost $500 a year for plates here in IL and I'd have to get a new truck to pull it (lol).
Holy crap. Michigan came out with the lifetime trailer plate about 20 years ago. My single axle utility trailer plate was $75, and it migrated back and forth between a boat trailer, and snowmobile trailer and the utility trailer for many years.

I'm a diesel guy, And it averages 54mpg. Kinda a no Brainer with the amount I drive. I'd also be lieing if I said it's going to stay stock. I can take to 150-180 hp without messing with the bottom end. Shouldn't have to stud the head, but it's getting studs anyway. After the shop is up I'll pull the engine, freshen it up install better rods, crank, main studs and girdle. Should be able to push it to 230-250hp. No real reason other then it's too expensive to play with my 12v cummins atm. It's at the point where I need to upgrade to a 13mm or 14mm p7100 for more power. I mean, I have more money in turbos for that then I'll have in the vw to more then double its hp. Plus it barely weighs 3k lbs so it will be a fun fast ish car to drive. With the added benefit of still getting great fuel economy so long as my foot isn't in it.
I get all that.
Saw this one today and thought of you. He had bigger tires on the back, probably to make it hook up better :innocent:.

Well got some of the issues hammered out of the German oil burner. Took the dash apart and fixed the blend doors. That was a pain. Now I have heat, and it comes out the vent I want it to. Installed a short throw shift linkage kit. The factory stuff was pretty loose and shot, plus the shift kit was cheaper and looks cool. It also came with new bushings for every place that moves at the trans and in the car, besides the big pivot ball on the shifter. Which I need to find a way to take some more slack out of. Man it shifts much nicer now. Went for a drive with the wife and kids and caught a whiff of coolant. (The guy said it had a slow coolant leak, but never left a puddle. I thought it must have been the Heater core, but I was wrong. It a plastic housing thing on the back of the head. Has a small hairline crack in it. Got one ordered, will be here Friday. Hoping the new silicon radiator hose kit shows up, would be nice to drain the coolant once and be done with it. New down pipe should be here this week yet, as well as a bunch of regular maintenance items, head stud kit, 3 bar map sensor and a new vgt control valve. Brakes are kinda mushy, so I need to look into that. It stop very well, besides the warped front rotors. Pedal doesn't fade, it just soft for a little before it stiffens up. I've been told it's "normal" but I don't quite buy it. Have stainless branded likes incoming to replace the rubber hoses. That should be showing up next week. Egr free intake should be showing up from across the pond next week too. Found a bigger injection pump, and a factory lift pump kit for it too, just waiting on the guy to give me a total with shipping. I'm hoping to get a better clutch, turbo and injectors next month ordered for it. Been back amd forth with the guy thay will be doing the programming for me making sure everything will be driveable, not smoke (too much anyway) keep some decent milage, and not blow rhe engine up till I get the shop finished so I can pull the engine and do internal work.
Here's a few picks of today's tear the dash apart project. All those holes used to have foam on them, the foam deteriorates and open the holes in the blend doors, then it's good by hvac. She blows good heat from wherever I want it now.

Thats one thing I haven't put much thought into. I want to get slightly wider tires for it eventually, but I don't want that stupid look with the blown out side walls and beads nearly inside out.

Yes, but you live North of the MTA surcharge, which is more than the registration fee for a small trailer!

Just got done with my tax work about 1/2 hour ago. In addition to my scheduled appointments, one client got an amended dividend statement and I finished up another one that was in process with 5 different States! What a PITA, each State has their own rules, their own forms, and their own methods of allocating their share of the income. It is like going through a can of worms!

These pics bring back memories of living in Colorado. One winter we watched an ICE boulder of equal size tumble out of the high country. We watched it travel probably 2’000 feet of vert. It totally wiped out the fencing at a ball park in town park. I’ll never forget the sound ! Was like a freight train, and then some. Coolest thing i’ve ever seen in the wild.
