The local hardware/landscape joint was giving away these old cement bags, we grabbed four or five then realised we only needed one so the rest are just taking up space.
 
Geez, I took a few days off from reading and now I have my work cut out for me to catch up. Today I took out my $50 268 now a 272XP that has been slightly modified and has a dual port muffler on it. I decided to quarter up some Ash pieces to see how the saw ran. My rakers are set at .040. I should have left them at .030. The full chisel chain is biting in hard and ripping some nice chips. Tomorrow I'll try it on some logs to see how it is. It does cut mean compared to how it cut when it was a 268. Video is too large to upload.

I'd hire you in a heartbeat. Hard to find good mechanics nowadays! Gotta treat the guys well for all their hard work.
Shame your so far away, I'm actually looking again. Put an application in with a local ups warhouse as a building/ line mechanic. Pension, great medical insurance, 401k and steady shift hours. I enjoy working at the park, but I was morning shift all week, now Friday and Saturday I'm 1 to 9 and Sunday I'm 12 to 8 then back on morning shift Monday again. Next month's prospective schedule came out and it's more of the same. Whatever hours they want me scheduled for is what happens. I talked to my manager this morning about it. Basically said his hands are tied with where I fall in seniority and how many first class guys and the second and third class guys not being able to do the shift work. To make matters worse our director stuck his head in, just to remind me I should only have to deal with this for a few more years amd should be great full that I only will have to deal with a crappy schedule for 5 to 6 years.
Later in the day we had a union meeting, where the company now wants to limit us to 16 hours on the clock with a mandatory 6 hours off. All this does is screw us even further once concert season starts. Just getting real old. I want to work for a company that appreciates their employees, pays fairly and has good benefits. I don't personally see this as asking too much, it used to be the golden standard.

So Tuesday I have a phone interview, if that goes well there's a written skills test, if that goes well a practical test, and hopefully if that goes well I'll have a new job. Won't lie, I'm a bit nervous about the electrical portion of the test (s). We use all this stuff at work but I usually have an electrician with me on the drives and plc type stuff. So we'll see how things go.
 
You know I am a fellow GM guy too....looking at that front mounted distributor on the AMC makes me wonder why GM engineers were stupid enough to put the distributor on the back of both our big and small block motors.
That was so the average guy wouldn't deal with it and bring it to the dealer for a tune up. Actually I have no clue but that is my thought on it.

I thought it was so you could cut a hole in the fire wall to swap ignition chips when they went out from the cab.....
 
You guys talking about the snow, this is my house currently (in the last 24 hours) up here in the U.P. I'm wanting to get a truckload of logs delivered, but it looks like it's going to be a while before my processing area is dry enough for a truck to be able to drive on it without getting stuck.

I'm also looking around for a place to pick up about 30 IBC totes for cheap. Some places around me are asking 75.00-100.00 per for them. Crazy.

Watch FB MKPL for 330 gallon totes. They hold 43 cubic feet of wood. I bought most of mine for $35 - 50 apiece. I did get one for $25.
 
Went for ride . Fixed the problem with the electrical on the Yamaha . Ended up being a bad battery . The battery when on the bench was 12.7 hooked up it went to zero . Traced it to the positive terminal . Must be disconnecting inside the battery when you torque the lead . New battery it works fine and is charging at 13.7 volts at idle little over 14 at speed .

It’s also 72 degrees here today
It was a good day for a ride. Had the battery in my ST1100 crap out 2 years ago just like yours. It shorted off inside the battery.
