Yes, definitely.
Sadly it's not a matter of keeping skills alive anymore, it's more like the majority of the human race has forgotten how to do things basic to survival, so now we get to re-learn things that people had been doing for thousands of years.
Very true. I think we have a pretty good possibility of people learning the hard way about these things in the near/mid future.
Apple blossoms.....probably going to get frozen. View attachment 1159537View attachment 1159538

Not good...I'm thinking ours are probably going to pop too early as well. Our buds are still dormant here but we've had too many warm days so if we get a stretch of 70° days they'll pop. Here's to hoping March settles into more normal temps.

I tip my cap to you sir

You are teaching those boys of yours GREAT life lessons!

I pray my daughters one day find men that have some knowledge in there heads and aren’t just pushovers

Most this next generation can barely tie there own shoes, let alone gut a deer/fish, change oil, fix a flat

My girls hunt and fish so I’m praying they at least find a like minded guy

What do you guys think of the latest way to transport the wood from my split pile to the house

It’s been so warm lately, I don’t want to drag a whole truck load or ATV trailer load. So I figured, the deer rack would work!View attachment 1159539
I like it, minimal lawn damage and easier than pushing a wheelbarrow!

My kids are third generation "backyard idiots" they don't know anything else....we've been going against the flow since forever.

I hope your girls find good men.👍

Probably in my top 3 smartest dogs I’ve ever had

Sam was by far #1, she’d go up and down ladders

Gunner can go up and down a few rungs then jumps…

Still not sure if he or Smokey are #2-3

I really just love how fiercely protective he is of my wife and girls

He’s been going to Mustang Mike’s camp since he was a pup

Kinda funny but sad story. My wife does not eat any pork. Story goes something like this.(I think it's about the truest version, as it's been told to me by 3 of the 4 people involved.) My wife spent her summers out on the ranch in Montana as a kid. it was a beef operation, but every year they raised hogs. One summer she (my wife) picked one out as a pet. (From her grand parents telling me) she was told it was going to go off to be butchered, but she was promised her specific pig would not be eaten by them,(her family) it would be part of the hogs that stayed at the butchers. From what my wife has told me, she was pretty upset about it but agreed. (Not that she had a choice.) At some point her dad flew out during that summer, but after the hogs had been taken away. Every day at breakfast he would comment how good my wife's pet pig tasted, and make similar comments during lunch or dinner if they had pork. At some point her grandad admitted they didn't keep track of which hogs the butcher kept and what was sent back to them, so they very well could have been eating her pet pig. From every account of the story I've been told, that was the point she decided she was never going to eat pork. Something must have snapped in her head. Think she was 10 or 11 when that happened. Hasn't eaten a bit of pork since.

My buddy swapped a 5.5 for a 10. Didn't change the pump and it ran way faster. Surplus center has some good info. https://www.surpluscenter.com/Tech-Help/Tech-Help-Home/
Or just ask @sean donato.
10 hp goes well with 16 gpm (my subaru is rated for 9hp i think).
I think 12 hp for a 20 gpm and 15 for a 28gpm. All running 3k psi relief. Biggest hp hog is when they change over from high displacement low pressure to low displacement high pressure. Usually thats between 700-900 psi. Lower relief pressure means less hp is needed. Never hurts to have a bigger engine then needed, it just doesn't work as hard. I have a 20hp kohler sitting here to go on a 28gpm pump for log splitter 2.0. Should work just fine. Possibly use a bit more gas then running a 15/16 hp engine. But I got a really good deal on the engine. (Tapered crank for a generator application.) Couldn't pass it up.
