Now this is interesting:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220209398439&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012

This guy is a seller with 0 feedback.
Saw looks new and real and I see the "Made in Germany" paper sticker on the fuel tank.
But it's not an AV model.
Also interesting that he said it came from "West Germany". Plate on the fan side looks like it just says "made in germany" like the MS series saws. Why would he say "West Germany"? Kinda "Cold Warish" don't you think? His username is ejay1971.906, so maybe he's 37 years old and just remembers the good 'ol days?

This will be an interesting one to watch.

I found that one last night looking a S-10 saws. Is this 090 legit? If so, it will being one pretty penny. I wouldn't want it though. It's value is in the fact that it's new and unfueled. I'd rather have a cherry one, but one I can run.

I e-mailed the seller and asked him frankly if it was legit and from whence he got it.

I thought the new ones coming out of germany were AV models? And where's the name plate on the cover of this saw?

As for the value of an unfueled saw, I'd just fuel it and bust the cherry. That's worth at least $500 right?

I am wondering about the same, it should have said "West Germany" on the saw if it was old stock (before 1990 or so), but I don't know how long the non-AV ones really were made.......

.......something smells fishy here - but I could be wrong.......

it's up to $1300 now... only safe way to do this is to pay with credit card paypal.

100% no risk when paid this way. if you pay with cash paypay and say seller ships you a load of rocks via shipper w/electronic tracking. paypal will tell you tuff sh*t after you complaint about receiving a load of rocks.

however if paid with credit card funded paypal, results will be much different. Credit card companies have equal clout to paypal and can yank back funds from paypal if you make a claim that something is not right. like receiving a load of rocks.

note to fund paypal payment with credit card. your PP account must have a zero balance. so you really need two paypal accounts. one free, one premier account. simply send all funds out of one account into the other. than refund back to other account to reverse PP charges for transfer.

to do this you will need two email address and two bank accounts. a little bit of extra trouble, but well worth it!!!

And before Andy or someone sees my comment and nails me, yes, it was painfull the first time I cut with my 084:)

Hey, I HATE putting my restorations in wood, the first few times... but.. after a while... If a saw doesn't cut wood, what good it it? It's like the first scratches on the new (work) truck.

Took me 6 months to put my 088 in wood!:greenchainsaw:

You also need to make sure your bank account has low funds. If paypal disagrees with the CC company, they will reach back in and attempt to take the funds. And, the kicker is, even if you dont have the funds, you'll get a bank charge for NSF (Not Sufficient Funds..), and as they try twice, you can get 2 charges!

Paypal - convenient, but a PITA if things go wrong..

That's the way I look at it. If you clean it up right away it's not that bad.

If someone here gets it and is scared to break it in, just send it to me and I will do it for you, NO CHARGE:cheers:

Got too agree. A little charicter (use) is a good thing.

Never knew that! Scary that they can go into the checking account you have attached! Never knew that, I thought it was only the money you had in the Paypal account itself.

That saw looks like the real deal but I'm put off by the goose egg next too the sellers name. Very risky.

Speaking of big money for saws, check out what this 262xp sold for! This guys shop is a couple of hours from me and he's always got nice stuff, but people can go crazy:jawdrop:

hmmmmmmmmmm

New saw with the top name plate gone, shouldn't there be a 090 nameplate on the top cover? I see a square notch with two holes where it would be but no nameplate..

any chance that it could be a asian clone with some genuine stihl parts so it looks right?

When I took my stihl service tech course in Vancouver B.C. the instructor
brought out a mint 090g that a farmer had tucked away,it was beautiful! Stihl traded him for whatever saw he wanted in the warehouse-he took a 280.

Stihl now uses that saw a local shows. So I know there are some still out there!
