yews

I inherited this pretty amazing shrub in my back yard, has almost a bonsai shape, but I can't tell what it is. I thought it might be a form or yew, but in has more of a pine appearance in the needles and sap smells like pine. Any ideas?

I posted the thread below, and still do not know why my trees died. They are now totally dead. See attached pic I am going to have then cut down, but wanted to know if there is a way to know what killed them. I can take soil samples or anything after it is taken down. Is there a service that...

Over the past 4 months I have lost 3 yews, and I cannot seem to figure out why. At first I thought it was a heat wave in the northeast, but that wouldn't explain why some are living and others are not. I have posted pictures of anything that looked strange to me, but I have no tree knowledge...
