262/261 muffler question.

Is there a differance between the 261 and 262xp muffler? If so is one better than the other when modded?

If I was going to mod my 261 Would it better to replace the muffler with a modded 262xp muffler or is there going to be no real differance in just modding my 261 muffler.

I would think if you were muffler modding it wouldnt make any difference.
A direct hole to the outside aint going to be fussy what muffler its on.
What are you planning to do to it?
I cut a rectangular hole behind the front of the baffle and made up a deflector to guide the gas forward in line with the bar, I left the original exit hole as well but trimmed off the very slight exit pipe.

I needed a 0.012" gasket to bring the squish down to 0.018" I was aiming for 0.020" but it seems fine!

I cut the deflector off of mine then added more holes under it, then made up a new deflector and welded it back on.
