Skip chain comes in various forms, it typically means that the chain has fewer cutters than regular chain. It's usually used on larger bars to reduce power requirements.
Skip chain is a blank every other link so you have fewer cutters takes less power for bigger saws to run long bars for different reasons tree size, ripping, milling etc.
I am not trying to be a smart alec but a 30" bar on a 53cc saw was it on sale or something I dont follow you?
Ok 58cc sorryI stand corrected! I had a super xl auto brand new, it was a good saw but mine wouldnt pull the 20" bar it came with real good, I put an 18" on it and it was like a new saw thats all I am saying, thanks for correcting me I couldnt remember what it was for sure. Take care
got a super xl 58 cc 20" bar & it works fine
can't imagine trying to go bigger if i ever find a tree that needs more than that i think i'll wait & let nature take it down 20" is plenty for the saw
