Well, my replacement muffler has arrived and will replace the standard (non-cat) muffler that is on my 2006 359. It has a dandy side port in the new muffler. Would anyone like to hazard a guess what sort of performance difference it’ll make?

No doubt about that. I’m just aware that the 359’s are reputed to be very choked off and many say to muffler-mod them

Mine isn’t a cat muffler. I read here a while back that the quickest and easiest way to wake up a 359 was with a muffler mod, and that they are responsive to it.

The reason I was given for the 359 being so responsive was that they are very choked off compared to the 357xp,

I believe there is no difference between the oem 357 and 359 muffler. So ur new aftermarket muffler should show the same results for both saws. If u don't have an Etech saw, I think you'll have a hard time noticing any perf. increase.
