Got my new piston for my saw!!!Yeyeeeee!! Basically I'm swapping out the scored piston out for the new one. I've rebuilt small automotive engine blocks but never a 2 stroke small engine. My question is should I run a cylinder hone through my cylinder first or is a light sanding w/ some 220 grit okay? I MISS MY SAW. Any video or advice about this procedure would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You need to remove any transferred aluminum from the bore, or else it will trash your new piston and rings. Muriatic acid on a Q-tip is generally the recommended method.

Lightly hone with a ball hone, maybe a flex hone, or with 220 W&D with oil just to crosshatch.

Better yet, SEARCH and read.

Be SURE to resolve whatever issue scored your P&C or else it WILL happen again.
