Finally got my other projects done and got the saw tore apart. Clutch side bearing was slightly rough but not siezed, no catastrophic failure. Put the new bearings in and the new bearing is loose in the clutch side half. I'll try what Bob suggested or something similar. There is enough play to see the gap from side to side, is there any significant risk with having the crank out of alignment?
 
If you're putting the old crank in with a dodgy bearing seat...I wouldn't worry too much :D
Ideally, the crank should be centered but it should be ok if the offset is not so large as to cause the back of the flywheel to interfere with the transfer port, or conversely, the clutch/bearing to bind.
 
I just looked it up and they say the gap fill is .004 and it should keep the bearing from spinning. I've never used it, just going on what I've read about it.
