390xp oil pickup screen

What's the deal with the screen on the right? I pulled this out of a 390xp that I'm doing and it's just a straight shot with nothing inside. The one on the left is from a 372xp, think there would be any issues using it in the 390, will it draw enough?

The screen on the 372's is hollow, no point on it like the 390's. I'm not REAL worried but I figured I'd ask. Maybe I'll pull one out of a 394 or 395 just to see what they're like.
