to sharpen your saws do you use an electric sharpener or more a hand sharpener

i was looking at one of these

Chain Saw Chain Sharpener-ECS120ACPC2 at The Home Depot

never sharpened a chain before and want a easy way until I can actually get good by hand.

-----------------------------------------

as far as an replacement chain how to know which one to get? there are so many 20" chains to choose from. any better than the other?

------------------------------------------

I was thinking also about getting a 18" bar for my husky rancher should I wait till i get to know my saw better?

------------------------------------------

do you use your primary saw to prune branches or do you think a smaller saw would work better for that?

I was looking at a small electric cordless and/or a 14" gas cheap saw I know the gas would be more powerful but the electric would be alot lighter - dont think would try anything bigger than 5 inches with the electric.

-------------------------------------------

thanks again for the insight

I don't like those sharpeners, just start hand filing, and practice. A husky combi gauge works really great if your just starting out, I still use one. No need to get a different saw to cut branches.
