Acorns

Is there any correlation to the number of acorns and the health status of an Oak Tree? It seems that we have an abnormally high number of acorns falling from our oak trees this year.

There are stories that stressed trees produce extra see/fruit to assure offspring as they die. I've even heard of folks taking a shotgun to an apple tree to get it motivated & produce.

also some trees will have a cycle of heavy fruiting that has no relation to stresses.

Just keep an eye on it.

I've never heard of anything about this but have wondered the same thing as my Oak had a bumper crop 2 years in a row. I have the dings all over my new honda to prove it!
