They are neat trees...but they may start showing up as invasive species. I don't think they have been planted enough to really get going yet, but they are showing up in the wild.
Koelreuteria paniculata has a great summer flower, but the tree looks messy as the seed pods dry out and drop. If you stay on top of removing the fallen pods it goes a long way in improving the overall image of the tree/bed.
I turned some on a lathe a few years ago. The fiber has distinct color and characteristics. This tree is listed as a known specie in Arkansas in Dwight Moore's TREES of ARKANSAS.
