Wood ID Help

I’m struggling to ID this wood. I collected it from a neighbor who had it dropped. It was dead for quite some time. There isn’t much bark and there were no leaves. All the branches were bare. I’m in Western PA.

2nd and 3rd pics look like Ash. Whatever it is, it looks really punky. You may not get a lot of heat from it.

I think it is a type of Pine.

that brown pith in the 3rd pic tells me it is ash. I have never seen that in pines.

Look at the bark. And pines get pith too.

Well, the bark in the first pic says its Pine not Ash.

i got some pecan down here that looks like pix #1, but those pix prob of pine...

Thanks everyone. I only collected it for the fire pit so it will be good enough (free). Just really bothered me not knowing what it was. It seems likely that it’s hemlock once I did some research based on the suggestion. Thanks again.
