Another what kind of wood is this thread

I got some wood a week ago and there is a ring in the middle that looks like rasberry sauce or something. Right now Im using it as filler wood for the owb because it is very light weight compared to size. Just wondering what it might be.

raspberry sauce ! LOL the first time I cut into Box Elder I thought I was in for a trip to the ER ! I was covered in red stuff from the waist down thinking it was blood I stopped in mid cut, checked myself over made sure the boys weren't cut and looked things over real close and decided it must be coming from the tree. I changed my shorts and went back to cutting.

It didn't turn out to be great firewood, it did burn and keep us warm though.
