Wondering what the point of the refractory material is in my VC Defiant Encore stove? Surely it's not keeping air a different temp from that in the firebox, is it? Do all cat stove manufacturers do this, or do some just use cast/steel walls to separate?

I love my stove but I'm not a fan of a part that has the strength of cooler foam and is held together with drywall screws.

Thanks, Phillip

Cat stove refractory material ? Don't know except for our VC Encore and Defiant.
Call or email the 2 other cat stove makers Woodstock and the super duper Excaliber-rated :msp_ohmy: 80 hour burn Blaze King (although not so rated by Blaze King ). Excellent web sites for both BTW.

For your cat, we've had good service and quality from Sud Chemie cats in Norwood, Mass. Also good site for info. They took over the original cat manufacturer, Corning.

Sorry for the late reply, on assignment lately.
