After vac testing an 041AV and not getting it to hold ANY vacuum at all...
I tore into the clutch side and there was the problem.
I should say what was left of the problem. The oil seal was nearly gone, rubber chunks and springs falling out along with a disintegrated bearing.
It seems the little strap that holds the bearings in place fell apart, which would explain why the piston was trashed when I got it as a parts saw.
So, in my beginning to replace this bearing I know I will have to split the case, put in a new gasket, replace the bearing and oil seal.
How difficult is it to replace the bearing?
I have read about heating up the crankcase to press the new one in, would it be wise to heat it to pop the old one out?
I am a fair newbie to this but learning fast and tring not to tear too much up in the process.
