Ive been collecting chainsaws and parts for a few years now and trying to learn about rebuilding and their modifications. ive been watching, reading, and experimenting. I have been watching a lot of videos by several talented and knowledgable people like Kuntz, IronHorse, Tinman, and Afleetcommand, and others.
*Im sure Im not the first person to do this but I hear/read about the decomp vales always leaking? Why not lap the sealing surface, its acts just like a valve in a normsl gas engine and seals when closed yet they build up wih carbon and get a wear pattern on them. *I used to handlap alot of old Chevy heads in the day trying to save money. I simply turned it by hand to lap it and then clened it relly good to remove the compound. The Decomp valve cleaned up nicely.
LAP the DECOMP valve for a tight er seal? your thoughts?
