Bronze Vent Screen

My vent was pouring fuel. I checked it and found the screen missing. I put a new screen in (correct part number), which went in way easie than the old one came out. I checked and the screen had come out. I tried to flare it a little before reinserting and found out the bronze easily chips. What's the secret to getting a snug fit? I can't just keep pounding it in without cutting the one way duckbill valve.

Husky 235. I wouldn't worry with it but it occasionally comes in handy if I screw up and pinch my Echo. It just seats in the hole over the duckbill.

Smear a layer of Motoseal sealant around the outer circumference of the filter. Push it in and tap lightly with punch a time or two. Let the sealant dry for a day or 2.
